We like how cushioned seats look, but how in the world do you keep the cushions clean?!
Pollen season is so nasty here.

@chopsuey: We have two containers to keep our cushions in. Just take them out when we need them.

We leave our stuff covered unless we are using it. The rest of the time we always leave things covered to stay clean and protect it from the sun.

We have a dining set from Macys and no cushions even though I love them, for the same reasons! I don't want them to get wet or have to clean them. The chairs we have is like a plastic-ish mesh-ish thing so it's pretty comfortable, although hard.

We powerwash our stuff to keep it clean, I didn't want cushions because I didn't want to have to take them out in bad weather and after a chair blew into the pool, I didn't want to fish them out.
We have metal with the mesh sling seating.
