I definitely prefer natural!

I prefer natural, for most stuff, but once in a while, for a special occasion, I like the props/studio setting.

I love natural settings mostly, like the last three pictures.

I prefer the natural settings, but I think it's cute to have posed ones too especially for wallets for family, etc. I love them both but my preference is kind of in between... more natural in setting/feel but somewhat posed- especially for photos of the whole family.

Natural. My favorite pictures by far are ones that show the parents with the child. I love when a photographer captures the affection between parents and children.

I also prefer the natural photos!

I love the one that lawbee posted! I most defiantly prefer natural shots.

I prefer natural, but for the big ones we have done a more traditional studio set up. That said, I don't really love the majorly done up ones like you posted at the start, aka does a kid ever walk around in a bow tie and a hat?

My favorite posed kid shot was one I saw on the boardwalk, in an old time photo store, the kid was dressed up in suspenders and boxing gloves, with a black eye. It's obviously a set up, because it was also done in the vintage sepia tones, but so cute.

Natural!

We have a mix of both types of photography... I generally like the candid, photojournalistic, natural style most of the time though.

For a few things, we have gone to studios, however... like Christmas last year and yearly Halloween portraits. Some studios do a mix of candid and posed in the studio too. In NYC, i really liked PhotoOp on the UWS. PortraitBug took some good pics too for us in the past.

I think you and I had the same newborn/maternity photographer though. She has some great non-studio cake smash photos that are very much like the ones posted above. She's so awesome. Love her.

@hilsy85 definitely! I would ask and see what she says. There will a lot of interaction with a smash cake!

another vote for natural. Kids in 25 different unrealistic, very adult-like costumes, freak me out.
