We are (hopefully) moving into our new house in a month or so and would love to transition DD into a big girl bed at that time. What kind of twin or toddler bed do you have?

We have two - an Ikea crib that converts to a toddler bed and an Ikea daybed. Both are in DD's room. Depending on when we transition her from the crib (and how that compares to when we have a second baby), we will either move her into the toddler bed or just to the big bed (with a side guard).
We love the daybed, btw - it pulls out into a king-sized bed for guests and has big storage drawers underneath.

LO has this Elmo toddler bed in our room: http://www.target.com/p/delta-children-s-products-sesame-street-3-d-toddler-bed-elmo/-/A-14358905?ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001&AFID=google_pla_df&LNM=14358905&CPNG=Kids&kpid=14358905&LID=12pgs&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=14358905&kpid=14358905&gclid=Cj0KEQjwvLGfBRDfkrr19KDS-7YBEiQA8CoFJ1cyGkC6Z0mDREVWtHBZ6ngKxtaqlqB-Tzhgb2WyMnkaAtzt8P8HAQ
In her actual room, she has a full size bed that used to be a guest bed, until we bought a Queen size guestbed.
LO still sleeps in our bed, so any talk of “her own bed” is all theoretical!

We are also transitioning when we move. I have a twin mattress and it will start as a floor bed and then once we know she is comfortable sleeping in it, we will put it on a box spring and frame and put a headboard on it.

@septca: Which bed do you have? I'm thinking about transitioning DS to a toddler bed from co-sleeping. He's never been a fan of his crib. However, he's a crazy roller so he'd totally roll off of anything smaller than a King. Yup, a queen is too small for our lil sleeping gymnast. Sigh. I'd love if it could be converted from day bed to king for space!

@Alivoo01: It's the Hemnes bed that @Mrs. High Heels linked above. We actually have it in dark brown, which it appears they no longer make.

I plan to move LO to my old twin bed which is the Ikea Hemmes after she graduates from the Ikea crib that converts into toddler bed!

Twin mattress on the floor, well on mats actually. DS1 got a bed base at age 2.5 when he would no longer roll off and could easily get up and down on his own.

@septca: darn! That's the color a majority of our furniture is too! Guess I could always paint it...

We have a twin. It's an iron frame one that was mine when I was a kid, we painted it bright strawberry pink.

@Alivoo01: @septca: we have the Hemnes line King Bed in our room with matching night stands in grey brown. Just tried to buy the dresser and it's not available.

@Alivoo01: It's annoying... the dark brown version was more expensive and it only has two drawers (the white has three), but it was made of solid wood (the white is particle board). We had actually planned on getting the white, but when we saw the quality difference we decided to change our room theme and get the dark brown.

we just have a twin mattress on the floor. i'm too nervous about her falling out even though I have these foam wedges on the sides. i'll probably start looking for a frame when she's 2.

@septca: OMG! YES!!! I hate how the color difference can be such a price driver. what the heck!! We have the Hemnes dresser and love that it's solid wood. We have it in their dark brown/black color.

@locavore_mama: Boo!!! Is it discontinued or just not in stock?

To start we took off the front of her crib and used it as a toddler bed and then we bought her a firm twin mattress with a white headboard.

@Alivoo01: I'm thinking discontinued because when we were at Ikea that color was not shown in any of their furniture lines.

@locavore_mama: I just checked the inventory at my local stores for you; and nada here too. Boo!!! So sorry!!
