Nothing too exciting here (birds, squirrels, the occasional skunk or raccoon) except for the bunny rabbits. My LO loves them and it is always a treat to spot one for her like we did this morning.

@Andrea: We see the same as you but sometimes deer as well. I actually DON'T like seeing the deer because they eat all your plants. We live where there are elk & fox & bear & all that but I have never seen any of them, probably because we live in a large community & not on a big country plot of land.

awww... just lizards and squirrels! it would be so much fun to see bunnies!

@sulli301: i see deer down the road but thankfully never in our yard! but it is so dangerous because i have to be careful when driving.

@Andrea: Yep!! Two years ago DH had just bought a new car & was driving back downstate to our apartment at the time & hit a deer! It was AWFUL! The first time he ever drove the car & he hit a deer!! Luckily he was fine but the car was damaged after owning it an hour.

@sulli301: that is AWFUL and so dangerous. did insurance cover that?
pear / 1764 posts
Yeah, it was covered thank goodness but still stinky the first day we owned it!! My dad had one fly over his windshield once & somehow it didn't break through the glass & just slid off the back of his car. Scary scary scary.

@sulli301: omg thank goodness it did not break through. *shudder*

Squirrels, chipmunks, and birds all the time (I've seen a bluejay, cardinal, and woodpecker in the last week!) A fox occasionally and deer once or twice a year.

We see lizards, squirrels, turtles and fish (we live on the water).
This might be common knowledge to people who live around deer, but my dad once told me that if you ever see a deer frozen in the road then you should flash your brights at it. I don't remember the reasoning but he said that it makes them stop being "stuck in the headlights".

I think we have a few possum or raccoons because we've left bags of trash out on the porch for a few hours and they'll get holes bitten into them and chicken bones, etc. pulled out and gnawed on. We've also had squirrels and mice in our attic... yikes!!!!! Apparently super common around here but still creeps me out.
The only other wildlife we've been visited by is a huge wild turkey that roams our streets. He leaves feathers on our front step sometimes.

Squirrels, birds, and sewer cats, which is what I call the stray cats that live in the sewer.

We see bunnies from time to time. I think a whole bunny family used to live in our neglected/overgrown little vegetable patch, but once we tilled up the ground and planted real things a couple years ago, they've sort of been displaced. It probably didn't help that Helo caught one of the babies in his mouth once and carried it around the backyard. I think they sent out a bunny memo not to come back to our yard after that. We see squirrels too, but they never come IN the yard. They just stay on the other side of the fence and taunt the dogs.

Mostly squirrels and rabbits, but I did see a fox run through our yard the other day. Really surprised me!

Just the usual squirrels (which our fur babies go nuts over!), bunnies, birds.
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
Squirrels, birds, lizards, and occasionally a kitty cat.

In our backyard, there's just squirrels, raccoons, possums, and armadillos. Bird-wise, other than common song birds, we have a ton of hoot owls, too and a few whooper-wills.
clementine / 959 posts
The usual birds, squirrels, etc., plus lots of deer & geese, occasionally bunnies, raccoons, foxes, possums, woodchucks, our ducks & chickens, and we can usually see our neighbor's horses. There is quite an abundance of wildlife here!
bananas / 9227 posts
Tons of different birds, ducks, deer, a hedgehog (although it's been awhile since we last saw him), a peasant, a mouse, frogs, a toad, the neighbor's cat.

@Andrea: lots of rabbits, squirrels, and raccoons.
At my old house, we saw lots of deer. I heard there was a cougar killed in our backyard two years before we moved in! EEK!

rabbits, squirrels, and the occasional neighborhood dog that has escaped from its family

Rabbits, squirrels, birds, DEER (the jerks), a couple of foxes, bats, CREEPY SPIDERS like black widows and wolf spiders and brown recluses, a beaver, groundhog and feral cats.

Squirrels, chipmunks, birds, raccoons, cats, dogs, and coyotes are pretty common; we have a family of rabbits that live under the porch, too. Not in our backyard (it's fenced in) but we see bears all the time out front. DD loves to see the bears, but since we most often see them when they're trying to knock over our trashcan, I do not share her enthusiasm, lol.

Lots of animals- we saw 2 deer just last night. Also we have lots of squirrel, opossums, birds, and hugeee spiders (which I'm NOT a fan of...at all). Now that its warm, I'm also not looking forward to snakes. There was one right under our door on the porch when we moved in last November.
Our house is in the middle of 3 wheat fields, so we have lots of wildlife.

@Andrea: western Washington. At my old house we lived super close to Mt. Rainier....just 17 miles from the park entrance. Guess a cougar snuck down!

We occasionally get kangaroos and wallabies going through our yard, but only notice them if we're up at dawn as that is when they're most active. Other than that, we get lots of kookaburras and other birds, lizards, and the odd possum here and there.
coconut / 8299 posts
We had a bear come down from the mountains (we live near the mtns) and go through people's garbage cans. Kinda scary but hey, he was hungry!
@ree723: OMG Kangaroos and wallabies? How cooooool!!!

All kinds of birds, fox, skunks, fishers, otters, coyotes, weasels, squirrels, wolves, bear, deer, elk, moose, raccoons, porcupines. I think that is it!
grapefruit / 4770 posts
Two Yorkshire Terriers, a Min Pin, and a Poodle! Yeah, our yard is wild!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@Lindsay05: porcupines!! so cool, what region are you in?
pomegranate / 3759 posts
@sorrycharlie: i live in Sask Canada! It's never a dull moment in our yard.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@Lindsay05: so jealous. we rent 1/2 of my inlaws (a duplex) and FIL is a little nuts when it comes to animals on his "Lawn" (yes, capital L). so we just see our dog and their dog out there.
my parents feed the birds..so they have a variety of possum, raccoons, skunks, squirrels, birds, etc out there. nothing super interesting though.
some areas of our town (the more rural areas) have deer and foxes!
