I a little pop and some wetness, thought I'd peed a little, but it just kept trickling out forever :T

Mine felt like a gush of fluid (I was lying down when it happened) and when I got up, it was a heavy trickle that continued & didn't stop.

I had a trickle and thought I just peed my pants a little bit (it was maybe a tbsp worth?) I didn't realize it was my water until I went to the OB the next day and they confirmed it. Then when it broke in the hospital it was a huge gush that could not be mistaken.

@Jumpingjacks: Mine broke when I was in the bathroom.. so it was like little puddles that kept coming..

@Jumpingjacks: enough to get my underwear damp (sorry if TMI!). It wasn't a lot. Later on, I kept getting small gushes when I stood up but there was never a huge flood.

I felt a pop like a water balloon burst, then a huge gush when I stood up.

With DD, the first break was like a pop followed by three small gushes; it later broke in a big gush at the hospital. With DS, it was a big gush the very first time.

@hilsy85: hahaha I was going to say the exact same thing about the underwear... the ride to the hospital was awesome

Mine broke with DD #2 right after I got my epidural and was laying there relaxing. It felt like a pop and gush. It was enough that even tho I was numb I knew something was up and I told the nurse I either peed my pants or my water broke lol

With G I don't really remember (8 years ago) & with P it was when I was pushing so I was a bit preoccupied. lol

@oahujeni: How long was it from that first trickle until you went into labor?

I got out of bed to go to the bathroom and it felt like I leaked when I stood up, I figured it was just pee, but then it wouldn't stop trickling out.
Contractions started 2 hours later for me.

Mine was pretty much a full break and it just started pouring out. I had just gotten to the hospital and was in the bathroom to pee and change into my gown. I told the nurse and she asked if I was sure. Yeah, I was pretty sure, it was a bunch of liquid just coming out all of a sudden.

My water broke in the early hours of the morning, at about 8 o'clock. I didn't realize that's what it was - I was sleeping at the time, my husband was on a night shift so we slept later in the mornings than most couples - so I just got up and went to the bathroom. Laid back down to get some more rest and not fifteen minutes later, had to get back up to go 'pee' again. This cycle went on a few more times before it registered that it might be something else.
Continued to let DH sleep, went into the living room to call my midwives, explained what was happening and they made an appointment to see me that afternoon. Told me it sounded like my water had broken. Went back into the bedroom, woke DH, told him what was going on and he called into work to explain the situation, not to expect him that day. I was about four days away from my due date.
We went to the appointment, they tested the fluid that by then just kept leaking and leaking - I had to use pads and it still felt like I had to pee every five minutes because suddenly there would be a little gush. It was a little embarassing sitting in the waiting room, let me tell you! Anyways, tested the fluid, turned out that yes, my water had broken at eight in the morning and they told me to go home and wait.
The plan was this - go home, wait for the contractions to start regulating and then go into the hospital. If the contractions didn't regulate, they had an appointment set up at my hospital for me to come in the next morning at eight to induce labor. Unfortunately, they had to induce because my contractions never regulated on their own even after they put me on pitocin and told me it was time to push!
They had to induce my labor because by the time my son was born, the water had broken 34 hours previous and he was at risk for infection because of it. Not sure how normal this is, just giving you what happened to me.
Hope this helps

I felt a pop, but nothing happened until I got up to go to the bathroom (I was in bed trying to sleep). I peed and peed and peed. lol! It just wouldn't stop coming. Every time I moved, more would come out. I was admitted to the hospital when we got there because my doctors like to deliver within 24 hours after you water breaks. On a good note, I was able to get the epidural at any time since it broke on its own.
The doctor who delivered DS said that with first pregnancies, the water breaks on its own only 10% of the time.

@Jumpingjacks: First trickle was at 1am, then every time I got up during the night to pee. Went to the ob at 1pm and after the exam I started having contractions. Since it had been 12 hours since the leak started they sent me to l&d right away to get started on antibiotics. Don't hesitate to get checked out if you think your water may have broken... I got a nice reprimand from my midwife

My water broke around 5:45 am while I was brushing my teeth. It was a little trickle and felt like I had peed. The trickle kept coming in waves at that point. I wasn't having any contractions so my OB told me to wait and come in when the office opened at 8. By 7 my contractions had started and were becoming more consistent maybe every 5-7 minutes. At the office they checked me but I don't know how far along I was because they discovered he was breech and sent me to triage to confirm and set up for a c-section. At 9:45 my OB checked me to see my progress and I was over 9 cm dialated and was rushed to the OR. By the time we got there I was completely dialated! It went fast!

I was in bed at the hospital. It felt like I peed my pants but more of a release of water than a flow of water (I didn't feel a pop, but the water coming out felt like it was suddenly let out).
I just remember it was really warm.

I got up in the middle of the night to use the toilet, and when I sat down, instead of the usual tiny bit that comes out when you're pregnant, I had a huge gush. I knew right away what it was. Unfortunately, I was only 32 weeks along.

Tiny trickle. I felt a contraction, went to the bathroom and just had a little leak. It broke more in a giant gush while I was at the hospital. I though I had peed myself. And then it just kept coming! I had no clue so much would come out for so long!

Mine broke when I started pushing. There was a pop followed by a huge gush.

mine was a gush! I totally thought that my bladder had just let go. I was already wearing a pad because I had my bloody show that day, and it soaked through that. About 10 minutes later there was another huge gush!

They broke mine in the hospital so I couldn't really tell, since I had my epi already.

I didn't even notice it. It was a very amount and nothing came after. My doc had given me a little strip to test for amniotic fluid, so the strip confirmed it. Since I had a scheduled c-sec the next day we went to the hospital. I think contractions started about 1.5 to 2 hours later. It was good we went in though bc DD was all wrapped up in her cord and her HR was dropping.

They broke my water too when I was about 6cm. It was definitely a weird feeling even with the epidural.

I thought my hip cracked when I was trying to get up from the couch but then followed a huge gush. Continued to leak for about an hour.

Mine was a trickle. I felt a leak after I had gone to the bathroom. It kept coming and going for the next few hours but was never a huge amount. I think it was a high leak.
