The arrival of the summer olympics makes me nostalgic. The week that the summer olympics '08 began, we had just moved to singapore after one year into our marriage. It was the first time either of us had ever lived outside of nyc (aside from the fact that i wasn't born in the states), let alone move to the other side of the world. I remember cheering very loudly for the US olympic team because I was missing the states so much when we first got there. But then we settled in pretty quickly and had a fantastic time for the 2 years we were there. Our son was born there so it will always have a special place in our hearts in that regard as well. Now, 4 years later, we're back stateside and are a family of 4. Life is definitely not as carefree anymore - it's not as easy to just pick and go like we did before kids. But the little munchkins bring us so much joy - we wouldn't change that for the world.
