1. Waiting for my epidural with R. I asked for it at 6 and didn't get it until almost 9 and was 8cm by that point.

2. Dry socket after getting my wisdom teeth out. BLINDING PAIN!

hands down: broken orbital bone.

-Transitional back labor after my epidural stopped working, though I think the early contractions (getting from 2-5) were worse for me, since I was at home and in denial that I was in real labor (I had been sent home from the hospital earlier than night). I think the later ones hurt more (and were right on top of each other), but I was in a better mental place to handle them--I knew for sure it was real and that I was working towards a baby. Earlier in the night I didn't understand how I could be in so much pain and not be in real labor, and that disconnect made them worse, I think.

-Impacted wisdom tooth.

1. The recovery after my tonsillectomy at age 19.

2. The 2 bouts of mastitis I had before I quit EPing.

Two hours of pushing ds1 w an epidural that wore off and ended in episiotomy is pretty on par with less than two hours total of labor/ 15 min of pushing med free w ds2!

@winniebee: YES. Ugh. I had two dry sockets from my wisdom teeth. That is definitely number two on my list!!!!

The worst pain - like brought me to tears, almost threw up, couldnt talk pain - was last year when I had to have a small uterine fibroid removed so we could TTC. They prescribed cydotec that I inserted about 6 hours before the surgery to "ripen" my cervix. I think maybe because I had scar tissue from a LEEP 10+ years ago (?) it was INCREDIBLY painful. I am hoping even labor isnt as bad!!!!! No pain meds of course because I was headed to surgery. But we ended up going to the hospital early in the hopes they could take me early because of the pain. Yikes.

I will start off by saying that I have never given birth.

The most pain I have ever been in was when I got an infection after I had my wisdom teeth were removed. They had to drain the infected area of my gums, and they did not give me any pain relief.

Food poisoning. My friend and I got it at the same time. He was smart and went to the hospital for pain meds and fluids. I suffered at home.

And though it was brief, I couldn't believe how painful my HSG was. I thought it would be nothing. Then I googled "hsg+pain" and read stories of women who said their HSG was more painful than natural childbirth, so I knew I wasn't alone!

Labor pains. Going from 5 cm to 10 cm in 15 minutes with no meds. Never again!

An infected tooth. I get tears in my eyes just thinking about it. And I had to wait 3 hours in the waiting room before I could be seen. My dental hygienist friends were furious that the dentist didn't just numb my mouth while I was waiting. Labor was pretty bad but at least I got a cute baby to cuddle at the end! With my tooth I just got a crown and had to spend $2,000.

Menstrual cramps as a teenager. I really thought I was going to die. It was way worse than contractions! Granted, my delivery was on the easy side.

Last June when I was 4 months pregnant and caught Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease was the worst. My hands and feet were in EXTREME pain from the blisters... I couldn't bathe on my own (water on my hands was agony), and I could barely walk. I went to the ER from the pain and cried constantly! The recovery from HFM was worse than recovering from my C-section, no joke!

My recent waterbirth, to be sure. I went from 4 cm to pushing in 90 minutes, and then delivered 40 minutes later. Most painful experience of my life. My daughter was born en caul, which might have made it worse. But man.

I've never had a serious injury or broken a bone, so labor. Specifically right before the pushing stage- I had a med free birth but at that point I did ask about an epidural. Before that, the half hour car ride to the hospital. I had waited at home as long as I possibly good, so sitting strapped in the car was brutal, especially when our exit was closed for construction and it took twice as long as I should.

I don't actually remember what it felt like specifically, but clearly remember thinking it was the worst pain I've ever been in. So I'll trust that memory.

Back labor for 26 hours and pushing for over 2. Pushing was worse for me.

It is a toss up between broken nose (specifically the doctor trying to push it back in place to avoid surgery...didn't work) and shattering my knee cap. 29 pieces the doctors took out of it during surgery...ugh.

1) The 3 days following a surgery at 14 weeks pp. I didn't want to take any painkillers. Should have.

2) Having a tear stitched after birth. I was given a local, but it didn't help. HORRIBLE!

1. Induced labor with nothing but laughing gas
2. Second degree burns on my hand and arm
3. Traditional acupuncture to treat a back injury
4. Breastfeeding

Note: #2 and #3 are close and #4 isn't far behind

The first time I got a UTI. I was in college and didn't know what it was and waited too long to go in. Then had to wait at the urgent care. Then had to wait at the pharmacy. I was pretty much hysterical from pain sobbing in the grocery store bathroom waiting for my rx. lol. Even during labor I maintained enough peace of mind to have a bit of a self respect.
