I don't remember exactly how old I was when I first saw the exorcist, but I remember being scared to go to the bathroom at night after that because I'd imagine her face looking at me through the window!!

The Exorcist! I was really young when I watched it. We were visiting my uncle that had his nephew over (the kid was a lot older than I was) and while the grown-ups were busy chit-chatting, I was stuck on the couch with his nephew. The kid changed the channel. I was frozen in my seat and couldn't make a sound. That movie traumatized me for ages!

@Mrs. Bee: Mine is also the Exorcist!! When my friend and I were about 12 or maybe 13 we rented it when we were alone at her house for the night. We were screaming so loudly that her neighbors called the cops, worried someone was attacking us inside the house!! Oops!! 18 years later, I still have NO desire to watch that movie again, eek!!

I didn't watch very many scary movies when I was younger but I totally was freaked out by this one movie called "Lady In White". I watched it with a few of my friends in elementary school. This is a summary of the movie:
Locked in a school closet during Halloween 1962, young Frank witnesses the ghost of a young girl and the man who murdered her years ago. Shortly afterward he finds himself stalked by the killer and is soon drawn to an old house where a mysterious Lady In White lives. As he discovers the secret of the woman he soon finds that the killer may be someone close to him.
I had nightmares for a few months after watching it. It still gives me the creeps thinking about it.

I have never been a fan of scary movies, I remember watching Carrie at a sleepover in elementary school and didn't sleep for days.

Fire in the Sky.
I saw it in early elementary school (at a friend's house whose parents were watching it), and I didn't sleep alone for the next 2 years. I cried myself to sleep for months. Needless to say, if I see that it's on TV, I have to jump that channel when scrolling to be sure I don't even get a peek at anything that has to do with that movie. It really traumatized me.

I remember the series V when I was quite small- women impregnated with alien babies that then cut their way out- that certainly freaked me out plenty!

My aunt let me watch Child's Play when I was five. I was terrified my dolls were going to try and kill me. It took years to get over it. I still can't watch those movies. I think I watched 5 minutes of one with my husband and ended up having nightmares for a week after.

Holy cow, you all watched some SERIOUSLY scary movies!! The scariest movie I saw was ET and uh, yeah. It was ET....

Being the youngest my older cousins would always watch scary movies and I would watch them too. I never minded or got that scared over them except for Pupet Master. It creeped me out thinking my dolls would turn into evil killing machines at night!

Yeah...I really dont do well with scary movies. I saw my first R-rated movie in January (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and that was a bit much for me.

I was in HS however The Ring scared the heck out of me! My brother would call me and whisper "7 days" for weeks. Even to this day I can't watch it at night.

I don't do well with scary movies either (Lion King and Hunchback of Notre Dame scared me), so I've still never seen Exorcist or Poltergeist or Freddie Kreuger movies. I slept with the lights on after seeing Bambi. I think I saw Gremlins when I was younger, and that freaked me out. I also accidentally saw parts of Chuckie when my dad was watching it, and I had to sleep with the lights on after that, too.

@joyjoy: my SIL is ten years younger than DH, and he let her watch Chuckie with him when she was little- it absolutely terrified her. He got her a chuckie doll for her 18th birthday, she didn't find that very funny either:)

I watched movies like IT, the shining, pet cemetery when I was very young...I'm talking like 3 years old. My dad was really into them and I watched them with him but was never scared...I'm more scared now that I'm 22 lol.

Another E.T. scaredy cat here--I vividly remember it being on at my babysitter's house when I was little and I thought he was so scary that I refused to watch it. I still never have. I'm so glad other people think it's scary! I always get horrified "Oh my God, you've NEVER seen E.T.?!" from people. HOW is E.T. cute? I'll never understand. So creepy.
I didn't watch scary movies when I was little. The Ring scared the shit out of me in high school, though. I like watching horror movies now. Most of them are pretty funny (aka, poorly done).

I had to be younger than Kindergarten when I saw It and Jaws. Luckily for me parents just installed a pool in our yard, so i was convinced Jaws lived there. My baby sitters kids were a few years older than me, I wanted to be like the big kids and watch movies with them.
A few years later terminator 2 scared the bejeezes out of me.
