Now that I'm older and know people who have kids, it seems really normal to have kids' bed times be around 7 or 8pm. Although I don't know anyone with older kids to ask what their bed times are.
When I was growing up I remember meeting this girl in kindergarten whose bed time was 8pm. And I thought she had the MEANEST MOM EVER. I was like, terrified of her because I thought 8pm bed time must mean show was a horrible evil witch lol.
My bed time from the time I can remember (5-6 years old) was always 9pm, although I could often talk myself into 9:30. Once I got to be probably 8-10 years old the rule was I had to be in my room by 10pm but my parents didn't care if I was actually sleeping as long as I wasn't bugging them. That then only lasted until I was probably 12 or so and my parents stopped caring when I went to bed. Through most of middle school I went to bed probably around 10 or 11, and high school was anywhere from 11 to 1. Sometimes if it was like 2am and I was still up my dad would yell down to go to bed already, but that was it.
What was your bed time when you were a kid? When did it change/stop?
I was looking at my permanent record while I was in HS, and on my preschool intake sheet it asks about sleep patterns and my mom had written "refuses to sleep until she can at least watch Johnny Carson's monologue." Ha!
