@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Mind sharing which night lights you have?? I've purchased a few for our house, and I'm not a fan of them at all. Ugh!

Yankee Candles! Light one a half hour or an hour before you have guests over, and it always makes the house smell heavenly, even if you weren't able to vacuum everything before they arrive!

Tranquil (they are like a sage green?) colored bulbs for night lights. We leave one on in the living room because DS's room is across the house from our room and it's obviously pitch dark at night. When he was an infant, we also used the same color bulbs in his room at night since I was in there feeding so often and still needed to see. I love them, so calming and not as harsh as a regular bulb!

Extra plush blankets for the couch, I feel like they make the entire living room feel more cozy! My BFF threatens to steal them every time she's over.

@Mae: I LOVE IT!!!! I wish I had some place to do that!

We didn't buy it, but I have to say I'm loving the blue touch lamp H got for Christmas. It has a pattern of a starry night that projects onto the ceiling and it's perfect for middle of the night feeds.

@Mae: We did the same (just solid though) on two of our windows. I hated the ugly cream mini blinds and I didn't want curtains. So the frosting is really nice!

Our 2 bright orange stools from IKEA. We bought them because they were easy to store as extra seating in our apartment. But we still use them all the time. They were super cheap $3 each, I think.

@Mae: haha, should have known! I was guessing Target, though!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Yep light still definitely comes through! The paper does not pull off despite lots of weather changes-- it has been up for almost 2 years and no signs of any peeling at all. Also it is wipe-able. I haven't had to really scrub it, but i can wipe it down with a damp cloth to remove doggy nose-prints with no issues. @Smurfette: what the what? Someone put clear glass doors on the bathroom? thats just… wrong.

@Mae: I know!! One day we will replace with regular doors.

@Mae: now I need to find a surface to do that on. It looks incredible. I just realized our kitchen window is double hung, so it may not look right. I've been searching for a roman shade for three years to fit the odd size of our window. Right now it looks ugly with the curtain I've got hung.

But I hear ya on the privacy thing. We lived here for a few days when my next door neighbor popped by and said, "I didn't know you had two cats!" bam, curtains were bought and hung that day. Apparently she walks thru my backyard to get to the other neighbors house & could see in our dining room!

@T.H.O.U.: can you gold wall me a pic? I'm having a hard time picturing it!

@Mae: OMG! I cannot believe you cut those all out! You're crazy! haha. I thought it was one of those big sheets you just roll on that has a pattern already. wow, impressive!
Our best easy fixes were switching out light switches for motions sensors and programmable timers for the porch lights.

@Mae: that is adorable!! Our front door has a big oval of glass that is just clear see-thru glass, so anyone can look right in. So if someone's at the door, when you go to the door, hello, you're face to face immediately. Kind of awkward. I think the previous tenants broke the glass and whatever else was there so they just replaced it with clear glass because it was quick and easy. We got a sheet of frosted paper but Wagon Sr. did the application and cut out the oval with A BOXCUTTER so it looks awful and is peeling all around the edges of the oval. I hate it!! I am definitely going to look into doing this instead!!!
