Mine was when they told me, "she's right there! We can see her head!!" And of course when she was out.

When she was out. It was like an out of body experience, best moment of my life. I pushed for so long that when she was finally out I couldn't believe I did it.

Hearing them tell me they saw a butt -- I got so excited!!
Then seeing my husband hold her for the first time -- seeing him love on her made my heart explode.
Getting to hold her for the first time -- no explanation needed!

When the head was out, they told me to stop pushing - and she came right out. Then they put her right on my chest and it was so surreal.

When DH joyfully shouted "IT'S A BOY! HONEYBEE WE HAVE A SON!" (we were Team Green).
And seeing all of his hair in the mirror when I was pushing. That was so surreal!

umm... sorry to be a poop head but there was no favorite part hahaha! Even when he was out, I was in a lot of pain, he had to be taken from me and I had to get stitched up, then I passed out twice... soooo favorite part had to be when it was ALL OVER.

Ummm all of it? Aside from my last minute discouragement & our transfer I seriously LOVED my birthing experience! I honestly cannot wait to do it again! I guess for a specific moment I would have to say........ when I pushed her out, uncoached, in the middle of the O.R. hallway! *I* got my unmedicated vbac & noone was telling me otherwise! I felt like a freaking super woman or something! ftw lol

When my water broke? It was the official start of labor and I got so excited that it was finally happening.
I also thought it was really cool when she came out and all the pressure on my stomach finally went away.

@runsyellowlites: that sounds freaking awesome!
Besides getting my fresh new baby in my arms directly after both my births, my favorite moments both times was when I got that first urge to push and my body just went with it in all its power! It's amazing and so much less painful than transition and powerful and tingly! Yes, I said TINGLY!

With my first- just meeting her for the first time! Second- hearing the OB announce that she was out!!

@Smurfette: he is NOT a crier so it was truly amazing to me to see him so overwhelmed with love that it affected him that way.

The relief I felt when she came out. We have a photo and I just have this face of OMG, it's over!
Least favorite was my OB massaging my stomach for the placenta and trying to get my uterus to contact. At least th contractions were for a reason with LO. After that I was just mad that there was more!

Of the labor - when my water broke. I couldn't get over how cool it was. I kept exclaiming, even hours later, "remember when my water broke? That was awesome!"
Of the birth - not any part of it. It was hellacious. And they took him away, so I guess when I got him back and everybody was out of the room

The immediate skin to skin. She latched on immediately and my husband had his hand around baby and I. First time our family was complete. It was magical.

when they brought him over and i started stroking his face. i will never forget that moment.

Pretty much everything after she was born. But two things really amazed me.
1) She calmed down and looked for me or DH when she heard our voices, but she cried if the nurses or dr were holding her and she couldn't hear us.
2) She was sooo obviously curious immediately. I expected a sleepy, disoriented baby, and she was very curious and very alert but calm and contented with me and DH.

@regberadaisy: same! The skin to skin and her first latch were amazing.

I really REALLY loved pushing - I felt so beautiful and powerful and womanly. I can't wait to do that part again.

Knowing he could breathe on his own, I wasn't sure I had the steroid shot in time. He actually stopped breathing and had to be recessitated.

@sarac: Me neither! Although, I looked forward to it all through my second pregnancy and then only got to enjoy that phase for less than 60 seconds. So powerful though. Can't wait to feel it again.

my favourite part was..... 4 months after!
just kidding... hehe... i think it was when i got my epidural at 10cm then pushing was a breeze and fun too

@birdofafeather: Oh I HATED that part! I was in tears!

After she was placed on my chest, the nurse took a warm blanket and draped it over LO, DH and me, and we all huddled under there together for a moment.
I also really, really enjoyed the meal I had right after LO was born because I hadn't eaten in about 15 hours and was famished.

The moment they told me to look down and catch my first look at my baby girl. Followed closely by having her placed immediately on my chest. Brings tears to my eyes even thinking about it.

#1 "Looks like she's got dark hair" and then seeing her coo as she was lifted up for me to see. She was such an observer even from that first moment.
#2 The *ahem* lusty cries from the OR and then walking over to the nursery and seeing this beautiful perfect child laying there, and then unwrapping her to see that she was a girl!

All of it! I love love loved my birth experience, and I wish I could do it over. I guess I especially loved when my OB said, "Look!" and I could see his head. It was a moment of anticipation right before he was born.

Um is it bad that my first thought was that relaxing wave after the epidural was administered?
But seriously, probably a tie between the part where they told me they saw hair (I was more excited that he wasn't completely bald than the fact that the end was coming!) and when I realized my husband had transitioned from an "ew this is gross I'm not going to hold your legs, that's what nurses are for," to being totally enthralled by the labor process and amazed at the whole thing.

I was induced with terrible back labor with no epidural so I was happy when the contractions stopped and she was on my chest doing skin to skin! After waiting 9 months to meet her it was better then I ever imagined.
Also a favourite part was when the midwife had looked and said "you're baby is rushing to arrive", got told to push so I pushed once and there she was. She was also content to just look around, she wasn't bothered about her world at all I loved the actual birth part, I just hated the actual labor!

Definitely when she was out and on my chest. I could do without the rest of it.
@FarmWifeGina, @sarac: I'm so jealous that you guys felt this way! I was hoping for a magical/powerful experience, and it just didn't happen for me. You go ladies!
pear / 1571 posts
@MrsScallop: Don't feel bad, pushing was the ONLY part of my labors that felt anything close to magical. I am a growling, moaning momma grizzly while in labor, definitely not a singing, smiling, joking birth goddess, lol. Although, I am afterwards when I'm that amazing birth high.

@FarmWifeGina: Aw, thanks! To be honest, I think the realization of what the urge to push actually felt like killed it for me. I was expecting some magical realization that baby was coming and I needed to push now, not a I need to run to the bathroom right NOW type of feeling - ha! Why don't they tell you those things??
