I won't make any final decisions on nursery until we know the gender, but today I've been thinking a lot about nursery inspiration.
(1) Was there a specific item, concept, etc. that inspired your nursery?
(2) Other than Project Nursery, Lay Baby Lay, and Pinterest, what are your favorite sites for nursery inspiration?

I found a cardboard animal head that I loved. So hence a rustic theme

We bought an uglydoll monster on clearance at Barnes and Noble, which helped inspire our monster themed room. I used pinterest for nursery inspiration.

I've been working off of guidelines instead of an inspirational piece. I knew I didn't want anything themey or gendered, and I wanted something that would age up well. Those parameters keep the nursery flexible. I've had fun experimenting with ideas and adjusting as I go.

I took a painting class and wound up painting a sort of abstract/silly hippo while I was there (which is unusual for me. I don't usually pick cutesy things like that when I'm doing something crafty). And then we conceived two weeks after that. I used that as the inspiration for the colors and theme of the nursery.
