I decided to go for edible and made sugar cookies in the shape of a wedding cake. We frosted them and put pretty sprinkles on them. We also made chocolate pixies because they're yummy, everybody got one of each. They were a big hit!
My favorite wedding favor was when a couple had someone making silhouettes. HuIbby and I got ours done and it's framed on our mantle. I love it because it's something we can keep forever.

Crayons, Skittles, and M&Ms. Not personalized or anything. Our theme was basically "colorful", and they fit (though I didn't pick the crayons for the sake of the theme - we had paper tablecloths for something extra to do. And I didn't pick the candy - that was my mom's suggestion.)

Duck keychains that quack and light up.
DH and I had them when we were dating long distance and they always made us smile, so we wanted to share some silly fun with our guests.

Ours was a toothpick holder of an animal that is considered good luck in our culture and also tied into my name. Our family seems to have really loved it, and it's always great to see it out whenever we go visit any of them. It makes the effort getting them for overseas and the cost soooo worth it!

We didn't give out favors. In lieu of favors we had a small note at the bottom of our menus that let everyone know we made a donation to a marriage equality campaign in our state - with the message "love conquers all".

We had a very small wedding (13 guests plus us) in Europe and my mom arranged for some marzipan candies that matched our cake toppers (owls) and a carved bowl with our names and the date for all of our guests to take home.
If we'd had our wedding here, I would have had a candy bar of some sort as I LOVE candy

We had mugs with one of Rob Sr.'s favorite poems by Billy Collins, an illustration by BIL, and our names and wedding date on the back. My dad had a promotional products business at the time so we got them super cheap.
Also, we met singing acapella so we had chocolate pitch pipes too. Those were so awesome. They were life-sized! The company that made them went out of business

LOL- still a sore subject in our house 2 years later... a box with Wintogreen Lifesavers and a packet of flower seeds with a mini terracotta pot kit- only we FORGOT!! to set them out for people to take!
My husband was so mad since he spent hours putting this together. My MIL thought the tables looked too cluttered with them out, we decided to set them out later but we forgot all about them!

We did jars of homemade sandhill plum jelly. It's my all time favorite jelly plus a precious memory of making jelly with both of my grandmas growing up. We had a huge wedding though and picking enough plums from plum thickets in 100+ degree heat for 300+ people just plain sucked. Everyone loved it though and people still talk about it almost 2 years later.

We made donations to two charities in honor of my two grandparents that had passed away from specific illnesses and to one charity that was close to my DH's family's heart.

Photobooths!
We also did some glasses, but they were supposed to be prizes. We gave out like 30 of them, and I'm not really sure how it happened, but plenty of people thought that was our favor.

We had little handmade boxes filled with heart shaped jelly beans for the adults, and activity books with crayons or crosswords puzzles and pens for the kids depnding on age.

The photobooth is the favor? How does that work, you keep the strip of photos?
It's been a while since I've been to a wedding, so I feel totally out of the loop! I can't tell you how many times I leave the favor behind at the wedding, so I appreciate something consumable, but if it's homemade, I probably won't eat it (I am weird like that). We had Swiss Army knife wrapped chocolates as favors.

@looch: Yup, you keep the photos. It's pretty great. Everyone loved them. Also, we made our guest book kind of DIY so people stuck some photo strips into our guest book where they signed it. So cool!
Most weddings I've been to didn't have a take home favor, so we didn't worry about it. BUT they had the photo booth at our tasting and my husband was SOLD. That was that we were getting that photobooth.

My stepfather made his awesome fudge that we put in little takeout-type containers. I figure that they're kinda a waste if they aren't edible.

we had little flower pots that you just add water and flowers grow. We also had candy-filled ornaments that hung on a manzanita tree but they fell over and shattered the day before so those were a no-go!

We gave out 187ml bottles of our homemade wine. We made personalized labels and a unique barcode with our wedding date on them. Our guests loved them.

We did little canvas drawstring bags with a small jar of Oregon jam and a small jar of peanut butter inside. We got Oregon heart pins (outline of the state with a green heart inside) and pinned them on the bags.
We also did a fauxtobooth and sent people their photos in their thank you notes.
