I've been trying to get as much done as I can for the week ahead during the weekend. So far, making mason jar salads and laying out clothes (both for me and DS) have been a tremendous help. What do you do in advance for your work week?

I do a lot on the weekends to prepare, namely I get all my outfits together for the week (down to the underpinnings and shoes), my son's outfits and I iron my husband's shirts.
I also only do laundry on the weekends, plus grocery shopping, making up some freezer meals and sorting out my breakfast things. I also drop off and pick up drycleaning on Saturday.
I also pack the car at night, saves so much time in the morning, I was surprised, actually.

I make sweet potatoes for R (only veggie she will eat regularly). Make salads for me for lunch. Lay out her clothes for the week. I make sure she has everything in her bag for the week (crib sheets, bibs, extra outfit). Grocery shopping is done on the weekends too.

We do all laundry and chores, the grocery shopping for the week, and I lay out G's outfits. On weekends we aren't out of town I'll make a couple weeks worth of baby food.

@grizz: No LO's yet but on the weekends I try and get lunches made, plan our dinners for the week including shopping for any ingredients, take care of any banking/budgeting and make sure all my outfits for the week are ready, do all laundry (sheets and towels too).... and I do my manicure but that's not really a necessary step!

@looch: Packing the car at night . . . or at least well in advance of when you are leaving, is a huge time saver! I, too, was surprised that such a small change could make such a big difference.

We try to make meals that are no extra work to make a double batch for the freezer. Same for breakfast; try to make freezable items like waffles, pancakes or muffins, etc.

Laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, lay out LOs outfits, and cut up veggies for me. I need to try the mason jar salads...@grizz: does it really stay fresh? I usually throw mine together in the monring, but on Sunday would be a great help!

I also pack my car at night--my gym bag especially! And I make food for the week, especially for nights I will be working out. I want to get home, pull dinner out, and eat within 10 minutes.
I stopped doing clothes for myself, though. I get up around 5am and E gets up around 6 and I dress really casual for work, so jeans and a polo are a no brainer. But if i'm dressing nice, I do set out a nice outfit with the spanx and the shoes and stuff.
We do some laundry on the weekends, but we do diapers and towels during the week (easy stuff)
In the beginning, I felt like it ate up all of my weekends. Now i feel like i've really gotten it down to a science.

@LuLu Mom: I don't do mason jars but I do cut up everything and put in snack Ziploc bags. Then at night I throw lettuce (already cut up for the week) in a Tupperware container and grab some baggies and my lunch is made.

I really need to plan out my clothes for the week. It's pretty easy to pull together a suit, a pencil skirt/belted sweater, or a dress . . . but to just be able to grab and go would be mentally easier (and keep me from having to find a random cami or something along those lines). I do LO's outfits early in the a.m. after I have checked the weather. She tends to run hot, so I try to make sure she isn't too bundled/layered.
@blackbird: I also do try to do the *easy* laundry during the week (towels and sheets) . . . It helps to reduce the bulk that needs to be washed, and helps me to not feel so behind.

@MsLipGloss: that's my issue, I was getting the outfit together, only to realize I didn't have tights, the shoes needed to be polished or repaired, etc etc.
So now, I do the whole thing on the weekend, takes me 15 minutes max now. And, if I am missing something, I can place an online order or pick it up while I am out erranding.
I also put my son's clothes away in a hanging organizer in the closet. 5 outfits together, down to the underwear and socks, so my husband can pull an outfit out without digging through the drawers.

Not much. I make sure her dresser has at least 5 outfits clean and set together in it. I may make a freezer meal but mostly, now that the mornings are easier, I don't do as much as I used to when I was pumping and sending her lunches and snacks regularly.

@mslipgloss, YUP. And it's the kind of stuff where if we wash it at night and it stays in there overnight, well, we can throw it in the dryer in the AM and it's ok. Not like clothes.

For laundry, we just bought a washing machine with a timer option, so now I can set it for the wash to begin at say, 3 pm, so it is just finishing up as we get home and can dump it into the dryer. Now, I can do some washing during the week.

@LuLu Mom: Yes! I don't work on Fridays so I eat something else then, but my Thursday salad tastes just as good as my Monday salad
I forgot - I also pack my pump bag down to the bottles and put it in the car every night, and I also double a recipe when it freezes and re-heats well.

@locavore_mama: I know it's GE, but I don't know the model It's one of the ones with steam, I think.
