I had it broken at 8 cm by the doc with my first, and during pushing with my 2nd. It only broke spontaneously with my 3rd, but I was 8 cm dilated.

#1 and #2 were broken during my induction. My water with #3 broke when I was in the hallway picking my daughter up to take her to bed. As I'd never had my water break spontaneously, I thought I'd peed my pants.

Labor in in a hotel room near the birth center. I had a really intense contraction that I couldn't sit through, jumped up, and felt a pop as my water broke. I actually managed to grab a towel and keep it from getting on anything! Still amazes me... Maybe my body knew what was happening and influenced my subconscious.
