Of course I’d love him to sleep for an uninterrupted 12 hours, but my main goal in sleep-training was for him to fall asleep in his own crib instead of in my arms/in my bed. And to not wake up every hour.
I have no problem getting up with him 1-2 times a night (although lately the 5-6 times from 3am on is getting draining). Last night was good, though...he slept for 14 hours (!!) with only two wake-ups, one before we went to bed and once at a very reasonable hour (around 8am).
It's probably not the ideal for most people, but getting him to learn to put himself to sleep in his own crib was a HUGE win for us.
What were your sleep-training goals?
