Things became much easier at 11 days pp for me this time. Before that I had too much pain to even sleep in bed (I could get in okay but not out). After day 11 things got much better quite quickly. So yes I would rebook for the earlier date.

I haven't had a c section but would definitely get the earlier date... When leaving the hospital after my vaginal delivery and no tearing, the nurses and doctor stressed that they didn't want me picking up my toddler for at least 10 days due to the recovery happening in my abs/mid section. I would imagine this would be even more important for a c section.

I agree with @oliviaoblivia: about hiring help. Even if it was a teenager mothers helper, just someone who could do the lifting for you.

I'd probably go for the 26th as well, but would try not to do Christmas Day.

I'm still crossing my fingers that you go into labor a few days before that on their own and they will do it then anyway.

I've had 2 c-sections and both times, my recovery was pretty easy. The second time was a bit harder though because I had a 20 month old running around. It's hard to say exactly how much two extra days would help. I know I walked a mile to the park after LO2 at 9 days out and it was fine. The next day, I definitely felt it, but it wasn't horrible. Lifting my toddler was the hardest part because I was terrified of messing up my incision (my incision got infected after LO1). I don't think I lifted him until 14 or so days pp.

I did have family around to keep my toddler busy in the early days. If you could hire someone to help out, I think it would make things a lot easier.

I was out shopping at 4 days post C-section. So I think you would be totally fine to walk back-and-forth to your LO's school at eight days postop. I wouldn't move it.

@MamaBehr: I'd look into hiring help. Maybe college student for a week to help you.

Could a friend pick up your kindergartener on their way to school? I would have some sort of backup alternate in place. I know it's your 4th and you've had faster recoveries but you really never know what can happen.
I had a csec and a quick recovery too but on the other hand My friend's csec scar opened up 10 days post operation bc she was doing too much and not following doctors orders.

I'd book earlier. I feel like the first couple of days post-surgery are always the hardest. I had a c section and gall bladder removed and both were easy recoveries but the first 2 days are hardest. Especially if you don't mind a Xmas bday. That might influence my decision.

This might seem radical, but could you take your LO out of school for a week or two? I know in my state, Kindgergarten isn't even mandatory--they aren't required to go to school until 7. I'm not sure what the rules are in your state, but it might be worth looking into. A week or two off won't hurt her. Of course, if you think keeping her home would make things harder for you, that isn't the way to go!
