Give 10% to our church, pay off our house, finish lo's college fund, and go on a sweet vacation to bora bora if there was any left

I'd probably invest most of it and use some of it to pay down our mortgage!
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
We'd probably save it for a down payment on our next place so we could hold on to this condo and rent it when we move. Booooorrrrring.

Pay off all of our debt, make a few improvements to our house (that would make it more sellable). Then consider putting the rest into the mortgage or selling this house and using as additional down payment.

Pay off our student loans, and save the rest for a down payment on our first home.

Probably just put it towards saving for a down payment. Housing is $$$$$$$$$ here, so it would almost be enough for a 20% down payment on a decent size townhome!

same as @MamaG:
A few improvements
pay off debt
down payment for another hell and sell this one

Downpayment for a new house...absolutely.
Prob do a couple updates to our current house to make it easier to sell first, though.

College fund and invest while we try to find a new home to buy.

@sandy: how does one end up with 100K after taxes?!?
I would first go on a super super relaxing vacation. One week with LO and the other week without. Both with DH of course.
Then remainder to go towards mortgage and house renovations!

Pay down our student loans (that's right.. down.. not even off. sigh). And let's be honest... probably also go on an awesome vacation.

@Mae: haha seriously. We haven't been on vacation - read anywhere fun or relaxing - in THREE years. I'm going on a flipping vacation.

Pay down our mortgage, upgrade our bathrooms, and put the rest in savings.

Pay off all our debt ( DH's student loans is the biggie), use some to put me through school, and then save the rest for a future adoption.

Cover school tuition/expenses and then invest the rest! Vanguard FTW
clementine / 912 posts
Invest half and use the other half as a down payment for a new house. I wish...

Pay off student loans & car loans, then invest the rest for retirement and college funds.....and then I'd take that monthly savings from not having a car loan and go on a vacation. Or 5.

Pay off some of my law school student loan. So sad that this wouldn't even cover all of it.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
Pay off our mortgage and my student loans. I'd have just enough to do both!

You guys are so boring!
I'd buy a sweet RV or tiny house and travel the country for however long I could. I would also travel to New Zealand, because having a ton of extra money lying around is about the only way I'm going to ever be able to justify the airfare for that trip.

@locavore_mama: your company is acquired by a new owner and a portion of your stock gets paid out...and fortunately at a favorable valuation. Some people are getting paid tens of millions bc they have so much stock...i could not even imagine

I'd invest the money in the stock market. Or possibly acquire another rental property.

Buy our next house now rather than next year. Or maybe still wait a year and buy a nicer house.
