We are visiting family and tacking on a couple extra days. We are traveling with a 2 year old who still naps and can nap on the go. We would be there 2 nights- less than 48 hours. So an afternoon, full day then headed out first thing the following morning. Originally we were thinking the Zoo. Now I'm thinking Coranado. I looooove lobster rolls. We have been before but just for a day trip.

We just did the Safari Park and it was fabulous---I think we liked it more than the zoo! You could do it in half a day.

What time of year? I wouldn't do Coronodo unless the water was warm.

@youboots: yes it's very similar to the zoo except the habitats are much more open & they have primarily "wild" animals. It's all walk through & was way less busy than the zoo. My kids enjoyed being out of the stroller a lot more. They are a breeding zoo, & they breed endangered species & then send them to the major zoos around the United States. It really was the highlight of our trip.

I haven't been, but one of my best mom friends just got back from San Diego with her three kids aged 6 months to 4, and she couldn't say enough about safari park and agreed they preferred it to the zoo.

I liked the Safari Park but for a little one, I vote the zoo.

@808love: yeah I was starting to lean that way after looking at the safari website.@birdofafeather: we have not booked a hotel yet- but most likely a Homewood Suites.@ChiCalGoBee: I'm willing to book a hotel based on what we are doing. I'd love your top 3 recommendations of places to go with a 2 year old.
Also we are likely staying for a week in Carlsbad later this summer so I think we will do the safari then. We make it to Southern California at least every other year.

We will be going soon and we are also in the middle of planning. We might check out a place called Pretend City.
