I feel like E is becoming a toddler. He for sure thinks he's one! But he's only 9 months old! He's mobile, opinionated and toddling around all over the place.
When did you consider your baby a toddler?

I think one year old = toddler. I think I considered LO a toddler when she started full on walking at 13 months.

I guess not until she was walking at 14.5 months!

@regberadaisy: Yes!!! His record is 16 steps but he was using me to stand up and then taking off all over the place at storytime this morning!

@Running Elley: Sounds like a toddler. I've got a pre-toddler on my hands. He walks with assistance and cruises all over the place. At the peds yesterday, he stood up on the puff chairs next to the desk. The peds looked at him and said, yep, he'll be walking by his next appointment next month or so at 12 months old.

I think once they are walking, they are toddlers. C just turned 1 and she's hardly cruising, so she doesn't get into as much "trouble" as I imagine a toddler would!

We are in the same boat over here. Tor has been walking since 9 months and it just feel so much like we have a toddler now. He can run around everywhere and pick things up and throw them and he moves tables large objects around our apartment. I know toddlers are much better at communicating and I have read 1.5 is the official age but I'm sure it feel different for everyone.

See I have a walker at 11 months (started at 9) and he's still so little I feel he's still a baby. He also can't tell me what's wrong or what he wants but good lord he can scream if he doesn't like something.
I'd say 12-14 months for toddler.

I would say 1 yr old PLUS walking. So, if my son was 13m but not walking, I'd consider him a baby. I don't think E will be walking at 1. He is *juust* about to full on crawl at 9m.

I agree with one year PLUS walking well. It's crazy how much their personality comes out around 14 months. By 18 months I knew for sure I had a toddler.

I feel like she was in some weird in between stage between 10 months and 15 months or so. She was a competent walker by 10 and a half months and had started baby stepping awhile before that but she was still so much a baby. I agree with @T.H.O.U.: by 18 months there was no question she was a toddler, I think part of that feeling was how much she could do independently then so I started thinking of her less as a baby.

@TurtleDoves: I agree!
Olivia acts like a toddler as far as being opinionated but isn't close to walking. She's 10 months next week, tear!!

P is 12 months and is toddler/baby to me. hes getting into everything and does this fake cry/yell that screams toddler. but isn't walking yet (yay!! im in no rush!) and is a cuddly baby... and he will always be my baby even when he's 90.

DS was full on walking when he was 10 months old, which made me feel like i had a toddler. but i didn't really consider hime one until he turned 1. now that he's throwing tantrums and telling us no(by shaking his head) and being much more opinionated at 14.5 months....he's a toddler!! lol

When is a child no longer a toddler? I refer to my older daughter as a toddler...she is almost 4.

I'd say it's more when they are
12 months +
walking
able to communicate more clearly/has a few words
eating table food
off of bottles and onto sippy cups
I don't know if that's the "official" thing..just what comes to mind!

@T.H.O.U.: Oh my God, YES. My LO is 14 months old and she is driving me crazy lately. She's just so full on with the personality and opinions and gah, it's really tough! I thought for sure I would have more time before this happened.
