@sandy: DH likes his on coneys (hot dogs) or likes on Fritos. I prefer mine on spaghetti.
I basically use this recipe with a few tweaks:
http://www.food.com/recipe/skylike-chili-skyline-chili-copycat-110548
In order to get the texture right, I've found that you gotta break up the raw meat into the liquid before you start cooking it. So I throw all the ingredients into the pot, stir until everything's uniform, then turn on the stove. I also use dried onion flakes because I don't think Skyline uses fresh onions in their chili. I don't really use the 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne called for in the recipe because Skyline chili isn't spicy. Instead, I use the full 3 tablespoons of chili powder. Finally, just as a matter of personal preference, I make a flour roux and add a little bit to the pot so that the texture of the chili is a little bit creamier and less soupy (its a tip of the hat to DH's Michigan roots, where the coney sauce is a little more gravy-like).

@grizz: here's the recipe, if you want to try it! http://www.chefdek.com/2013/05/german-unpotato-soup.html?m=1 Super yummy and LOs love it too. Full disclosure, I often make it as a freezer meal and skip the browning the sausage because I'm lazy.
