What are you having for Easter or Passover dinner?

Next weekend is Easter at my in-laws! Having a BBQ on Saturday and celebrating again on Sunday with church and a meal.

For Easter we always have a feast! A honey baked ham, homemade rolls, potato salad, noodle salad and funeral potatoes! Oh and I guess we Will be having a BBQ at oureaster egg hunt Saturday. I love Easter! And can't wait to eat myself into a chocolate bunny coma. We still have the Easter bunny bring us Easter baskets on Sundays so we will have to hunt for those as well.

We're going to DH's sister's for Easter Sunday. I think she's making ham. Normally I contribute quite a bit to all our family meals (they're always pot-lucks), but I've decided I get a pass this year since I'll be 38w5d pregnant! Although, if I get bored over the weekend, I might throw together a loaf or two of egg bread.

@hellobeeboston: only the best things in the world! Cheesy potato casserole. Here in Utah we have them at every Mormon funeral... So that's where the nickname comes from. But they are so delicious. It's like hashbrown potatoes all creamy and cheesy. Really healthy.

DH is getting back from a trip to the states the day before and he's going to be jet-lagged so... yeah. We're making reservations for a nice Sunday roast at a local pub with our neighbors.

@anonysquire: YUM. I thought i knew every potato dish in existence, ha --- love me some potatoes!

It depends who's coming. My SIL's family might come, my parents might come...his parents will be there. If it's just the 5 of us, I won't cook a full ham so I'm not sure what I'll do....

It will be DH, DD, me and DS but we are having a big dinner. Baked ham (I'm trying a new recipe), green bean casserole, was thinking about potato salad but @anonysquire's funneral potatoes sound good) and maybe biscuits.

Going to my dad's house, and he is making ham and prime rib! I LOVEEEE my dad's prime rib, I can't wait!!

We already did passover with my inlaws. We had matzo ball soup, turkey, and lots of side dishes.
We're having dinner with my family tonight. It's going to be pretty crazy..... we're having it with another family and there are going to be a ton of people and a ton of kids. I'm not sure what we're having, but my mom's friend who is hosting it with my mom is a gourmet cook so I'm pretty excited I'm in charge of bringing the eggs, since our tradition is to dye the egg that goes on the sedar plate.

DH will be out of town for work and DS and I are going to my ILs. I'm not completely sure what we'll be having--I think the last two years it was lamb, though.

@FutureMrsMcK: I'm thinking of suggesting lamb if it is indeed just us 3!

@regberadaisy: I hope that's what it is this year. It's always really good. My MIL always sends my FIL and DH's aunt out to buy mint jelly to serve with it--even though I don't think anyone has ever used it.

@anonysquire: cheesey potatoe casserole? Sounds yummy. Do you have a recipe you could share?
As for me, we are having boneless leg of lamb, roasted asparagus and butternut squash (separate dishes), DH's grandmothers potato salad.
I'm thinking deviled eggs for appetizer and I bought apple pie and carrot cake cupcakes for dessert.
I feel like there should be a pasta dish. Maybe I can make some couscous with that butternut squash.

We always have antipasto and homemade ravioli. There will also be a big spread of desserts!

We'll be at my mom's soooo- turkey, broccoli casserole, salad, mashed potatoes, rolls, sauteed carrots... And I thunk that's it!

We had Passover dinner with my family Monday & Tuesday (amazing spread).
For DH's Easter Dinner it's just us and his mom, so I'm making prime rib, roasted veggies (butternut squash, potatoes, turnip), mashed sweet potatoes and cucumber salad, with ferrero rocher cheesecake for dessert for them (cookie crust and I'm being good with Passover).
I also made them fresh bread last night for their Good Friday dinner (they had pasta...since I couldn't have it I ended up having Chicken).

Tomorrow, we're going to the ILs for brunch/lunch then hosting our first holiday in our new house for my parents - brown sugar glazed ham, garlic mashed potatos (the instant variety), box stuffing, my mom's bringing asparagus, some rolls, then I'm making a bunny cake. Why? Because I have a cake pan of a bunny face and last Sunday was my dad's birthday so it's kind of a Happy Easter/Belated Birthday type of thing. And because it'll look cute

We're making a brisket and some matzoh ball soup, if I get my act together. We'll also probably dye some eggs for easter.

Tonight is lasagna at my inlaws. Tomorrow is a pork roast at my parents. Not sure about side items. I just know I'm bringing brownies tonight and a bunny cake tomorrow.

@katiew92081: Glad I'm not the only one doing a bunny cake!

@NaturallyCathy: It's kinda a tradition in our family. I've been making a bunny cake since middle school. I love it...DS and my niece love it, too, so now it's something THEY look forward to seeing, too!

@katiew92081: @NaturallyCathy: I want some bunny cake!! My SIL is making my favorite, cheesecake, and I can't have any. Who knew one would miss dairy as much as I do.

@katiew92081: Mine's just a cake pan in the shape of a bunny face. We got the cake pan for my 16th birthday party I think. Even though the party was two Saturdays before, my birthday fell on Easter that year. Thus the bunny cake pan.

Oh, food. This weekend is intense.
Yesterday, we had 19 people to our house, so we had roast beef, a huge ham, and all of the veggies and sides to go along with it.
Tonight there are nine of us, and we'll be having a full turkey dinner.
So excited!

Just hubs & I, so nothing too fancy. Probably baked salmon, and roasted red potatoes, and perhaps some asparagus, too. And bread pudding with peach compote for dessert

Tomorrow we'll be having bacon and eggs for breakfast, and then ham and scalloped potatoes at the in-laws for supper!
bananas / 9229 posts
We were planning on going out for brunch after church but a nice bill of Uncle Sam changed that... I bought a pre-sliced small ham that's already glazed and will be making mashed potatoes, stuffing (DH's request!) and corn to go with.
