Just found out my parents are leaving early Thanksgiving Day, which means they'll arrive after lunch. Maybe even right before dinner if they stop for lunch and shopping like they usually do. That's totally fine with me (I love preparing holiday meals!! as long as someone is entertaining the kids) but now I've got to plan the menu. Usually my mom has input since she's a great cook, and my dad will take care of the turkey no matter where he is... but since they'll be driving... it's all up to me!

I'm thinking just the basics, mostly to keep it kid-friendly:
Turkey with stuffing
Separate stuffing (maybe in muffin tins to make multiple crispy servings)
Mashed potatoes (I am thinking sour cream and chive)
Green Bean casserole
Sweet Potato casserole
Cornbread
Cranberry sauce (I like the canned, jellied kind... no whole berries!)
Creamed corn (I have an amaaaazing recipe somewhere at home I will link to in the future!)
Pumpkin and apple pie (the night before!)

I've done things like sauteed green beans with almonds and baked acorn squash before, but for some reason I want to keep things super simple and basic this year. Maybe I'll do a mac and cheese since that will go over super well with the kids.
