I think it was E.T.? Other than that, the only movie I saw when I was a kid was maybe Top Gun. We didn't go to the movies very often.
What's the first movie you remember seeing in the theaters?

Bambi. I think it was rereleased to theaters in the 80s. My grandma took my brother and I to the movies all the time.

The Great Mouse Detective... Although what I really remember is looking all around the theatre and not paying attention to the movie at all. All of the people with their popcorn were so much more interesting!!

Hook. It terrified me. I slept in my favorite pjs for months just in case I got kidnapped in them and wouldn't be able to change. The fact that there was a balcony off of my room at the time only exacerbated the problem.

Dune as a very small child. I'm still disturbed by the thought of those big worms... and Sting. I threw a huge tantrum when my parents tried to leave me with my grandparents, so they took me with.
As far as movies I was meant to see- Willow at the drive in and Little Mermaid in theater. We didn't go to movies very often.

I'm not sure which was first, but I remember being invited to see the Land Before Time (invite came in the mail-must have been the PR campaign), The Little Mermaid (the theater was so packed they set up an additional ticket station using a folding table) and Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (I screamed when the guys' eyes popoed out, my dad coveted my mouth).
So these three were all memorable experiences when I was little. Oh! Lady and the Tramp because my mom sung me the scary Siamese cat song v when I would act up. Ok...I don't remember. Lol
