I live in Houston, so I've been through several tropical storms/hurricanes. The worst were probably tropical storm Allison in 2001 (our house flooded) and Hurricane Ike in 2008.

I was also living in New Orleans when Katrina hit, but I had evacuated so I wasn't actually there when it hit.

Probably Hurricane Ike. We didn't have power for over two weeks after it hit.

Some pretty nasty tornadoes hit my home town when I was a kid. There were two of them. My parents and I saw a funnel cloud forming in a field across from our house, but it didn't touch down by us.

hurricane isabel back in '03. a few trees were knocked down on our property (i was living with my parents) and roof tiles were flying off all over the place. we lost power for 3 days, but other than that, we were okay.

we were also hit with some huge snowstorms -- in 1996, 2003, and 2010. all were several feet and had roads shut down for 2 days, but mostly, it was fun playing in it!

A few blizzards - but nothing happened. It's really the worst that happens in Minnesota, blizzards in the winter and a few tornados but the tornados are never too serious.

I've been in a couple blizzards in NYC and a pretty decent earthquake here in the PNW.

I live on the West Coast of Canada... so I've never experienced any real natural disasters. They're telling us that there may be a pretty major earthquake in the next few years though... maybe. That is kind of scary.

The worst one was probably the Flood of the Century. It covered most of southern Manitoba (we had relatives in Europe phoning to see if we were underwater because they had seen it on the news). But it's different though because it's slow - there was time to prepare.

An earthquake in 1989. I'm thankful that has been the worst.

The Cedar Fire in 2003. My apartment was way too close, we were non-stop watching the news, ready to evacuate. But then the wind changed in our favor. All you could see was red skies and soot and ashes outside the window. I knew a lot of people that lost their homes.

The big earthquake in Japan in march 2011. Luckily, we lived in tokyo so it wasn't damaging like it was for all the people up north.

Nothing too terrible. Some really bad winter storms, and some pretty intense earthquakes in S. America. Do political uprisings count? I was in Bolivia when there was some pretty intense violent protests going on, gas shortages, transit strikes, food shortages, etc.

I was in a tornado my freshman year in high school. It hit my gym while I was in it. I didn't even know it at the time, I thought it was just thunder but that sound was the roof caving in. Everyone was running towards the hallway so I just followed. Some people did get hurt by the falling roof... but nothing too serious. We did get out of gym for the rest of my high school career because they had to fix it though

Just blizzards. Although they are so common in WI that we all think nothing of it. Power goes out? Yea....it happens. That's why we have tons of warm clothes and heavy blankets!

'89 earthquake. I was a little far from the epicenter, but Mr. Jacks was basically on the fault line. It was a miracle their house survived (it didn't have a foundation). The worst thing that happened to us was that the apartment complex pool sloshed and flooded the living room. It was pretty terrifying though!

The Good Friday tornado in St. Louis in 2011. It was a bad one. I loved less than a mile from Lambert Airport, which got hammered BAD. We got lucky and our house wasn't damaged.

We were in NYC during an earthquake in 2010, and we were in VA during the hurricane that hit the following week. I was pretty unimpressed with both events.

Otherwsie, just some minor earthquakes, floods, and forest fires. We did survive a record snow year in 2009/2010; we got something like 22 feet of snow at our house that winter!
