@Crumbs: do they mean that Asians have smaller features??Like DH's nose is a lot bigger than my Asian one. Haha.

it really stems from how Asians value Eurocentric beauty i.e. bigger eyes, small faces i.e. faces that are long and oval as oppose to round, which more Asians tend to have.

@chopsuey119: I read that cultures often prize the physical traits possessed by their royalty. In Japan, royalty and the nobility often had fair skin because they didn't have to work out in the fields like the common farmers. Wouldn't be surprised if they also had small faces and big eyes!

I think the phrase blue bloods also refers to fair skin. Some people's skin is so fair, that you can see the blue veins underneath them. The alternate theory is that a lot of the European monarchs suffered from hemophilia!
