We've been living in NYC for a few years, and one of the greatest things is not having to worry about driving home after a night out that involves a few drinks.

We're moving back to Texas in a couple months, and my husband and I were talking about how driving everywhere will affect our social lives. We're not big drinkers but there will be times when we'll have work happy hours, barbecues with friends or go out to concerts.

I am really paranoid about drinking and driving. I think we should plan to only have one drink max, nursed over a couple of hours, if we're driving. My husband thinks two beers should be the limit.

What's your rule of thumb on drinking when driving? Just curious what others do and what's realistic/safe. I am leaning towards total abstinence but maybe that's overboard...
