I am doing a book exchange with some other June mamas, and would love ideas! What's your favorite children's book?

@littlek: same! I love Mo Willems. His books always make me and the LO's laugh!

This is one of my new favorite board books: http://www.amazon.com/Hippopposites-Janik-Coat/dp/1419701517/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392766062&sr=8-1&keywords=hippopposites
Otherwise I love Mo Willems like others have mentioned. And Doreen Cronin. She writes Click, Clack, Moo and others like it. I really like Jon Klassen's two hat books (I Want My Hat Back and This Is Not My Hat-won the Caldecott last year). I think they are silly enough for kids and adults to enjoy. DH loves I Want My Hat Back...we just bought it for our LO this past weekend.
Oliver Jeffers is another author I love with great books. His newer one is called That Moose Belongs To Me and it's hilarious. But I don't think younger kids wouldn't really understand the storyline.

We're a big Dr Seuss fan household, but I also love "I Love You Through and Through" by Bernadette Rossetti-Shustak and "You Are My I Love You" by Maryann Cusimano Love. Both are read nightly.

@char54: peek a who is still a favorite here at 13.5 months.
LO and her BFF are both obsessed with Mirabelle and the red ball. I don't get it, but they both love it. They also really like Eric Carle Brown Bear... the one with the sliding windows. That book is a month old and looks like it's been through the war. They. Are. Obsessed.

We love (umm, more like are obsessed with!) "Barnyard Dance" by Sandra Boynton.
I also really, really love (and LO also really loves) "I'd Know You Anywhere, My Love" by Nancy Tillman. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/id-know-you-anywhere-my-love-nancy-tillman/1113938085?ean=9780312553685
It's about animals....but the message is clear that no matter who my LO wants to be (or is), that I will always know her, and always love her. I think this will be a great book to keep on hand throughout the years, and a good opening conversation to gender identity or sexuality questions my LO might have.
"There are things about you quite unlike any other. Things always known by your father or mother. So if you decide to be different one day, no worries… I’d know you anyway."

My favorite from when I was a little girl was "Mama do you love me" - and my mom gave it to me to read to J! I love it. My second favorite was "What is your language", and I have a copy for J now too!

Goodnight gorilla is super cute! Also all the Mary Katz books are a huge hit in our house.
Although for LO at 18 months I prefer books with photographic /realistic images so he learns the words along with the pictures.
