It depends where it comes from. Some potato salads are amazing, some are awful. Slaw is always a good choice, especially ON the bbq.

There's a barbecue place in my hometown that fries their corn on the cob. It's so yummy and crispy. That's definitely my favorite. I make a really delicious red potato salad that comes in at a close second!

I have never heard of baked beans and mac and cheese as a side for BBQ! A Southern thing, I assume? My favourite would be potato salad and grilled corn on the cob. Yum!

@sslm: I love broccoli salad too...mine is made with broccoli, bacon and grapes with a yummy mayo sauce. I used to hate raw broccoli until I tried broccoli salad. Sounds weird but soooooo good!
I also love pasta salad and watermelon salad (salt pepper watermelon basil and olive oil...sooo good)
