I love a good, hoppy IPA. I think my favorite is Bell's Two-Hearted Ale. I'm also a huge fan of pretty much anything by Troegs, especially their Spring seasonal, Nugget Nectar. Yum!

My fave beers are from Nashville breweries: Yazoo Dos Perros (surprisingly light brown ale), and Turtle Anarchy Porter. (Really I like most any brown ale or porter though!)
Also, they are pricier, but Goose Island's speciality beers Matilda and Sophia are both really good!

Troegs Perpetual IPA!
We only live about 15 minutes from where it's made (E was even born in the same town!) so we get it like a week or two after it's been bottled!

Sleeman Red (It's called Sleeman Dark in Ontario for some weird reason), Barking Squirrel, Heineken (depending on my mood).

I'm not a beer snob at all...the lighter the better for me. I'm not a huge beer drinker anymore, but if I do indulge I stick to Micalob Ultra or a Redd's Apple. (cheap and light for me!)

Uh, Bud Light Lime. We're not much of beer connoisseurs. DH regularly drinks Budweiser (or "Bud Heavy" as he calls it).

Mmm! There's a local beer here called Hardywood Singel that I adore - and I also always like the Anderson Valley seasonals (Summer Solstice, Winter Solstice). Now I'm thirsty!

@runnerd: Mmm, Matilda and Sophie are two of my favorite beers!
If I could choose anything, it'd be a Kostritzer, but not bottled! It has to be on tap. Also love Leffe - Brun if I have a choice, but the Blonde is fine too. And Erdinger Dunkel. Yumm.
Also, thinking about this is making me crave a beer so bad! How many months till May??

I like Belgian-style ales best. Dubbels for regular drinking, quadruppels when I want something sweeter and maltier, and saisons in the summer. Around this time of year, I luurrrve Christmas/holiday ales that are spicy and complex. Ommegang is one of my favorite breweries and their signature ale is my go-to beer, and they once had a Christmas ale called Adoration that was phenomenal. The gold standard for me is Chimay Blue, though, but it's really pricey so I don't have it too often. I've recently gotten recommendations for some similar local beers I might like and I'm just waiting to not be pregnant anymore so I can actually try them!

My taste buds are all over the place - fruit-y beers, seasonals, nut browns, etc.! I stick almost always to craft beer though!
Does anyone use the Untappd app?!

@mfa_lady: we have hardywood by us too! You must live close-ish to me!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@littlebit: YUM, right? I work really close to the brewery, but it's always so hard to get by there on the nights they're open. There's always something else I should be doing.
I'm so glad they're bottling the Singel in 6-packs now!

I love beer and will give any microbrew a try. I'm a big Belgian and hefe fan.
I love anything Dogfishhead, especially their 120 and World Wide Stout.
My absolute favorite is this one though:

@mfa_lady: oh my gosh..you are so close! I work about 5 minutes from there! Too funny!

@lovehoneybee: I grew up there! Yes, the Perpetual is SO GOOD. They just had a scratch IPA that I sent my sister over to the brewery to get a growler of for Hubs for Christmas.

I don't think I have a favorite. I like to drink local, I like to try a variety, I love seasonals. I miss certain particular Oregon breweries (widmer, deschutes, Bridgeport) but there are a few good local breweries here too. I'm no snob though and drink plenty of high life, bud light, and pbr when the occasion or mood arises!

I'm such a beer novice. I like Rickards White, Bud Light Lime, or fruit ciders.

I'm really into hoppy IPA's too! I've been having the Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale lately, but my all time favorites are Upland (an Indiana brewery) Dragonfly and Rad Red. The Rad Red is surprisingly hoppy and delicious! Dragonfly is a classic IPA and happens to have been my first IPA!
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
@littlebug: The Perpetual is my favorite but I haven't met a Troegs I didn't like! How funny that you grew up so close!
I also love Saranac, and like Long Trail, Dogfish Head and Flying Dog a lot.

I will drink just about anything decent. My favorites are stouts (especially Brass Knuckles from Barley Island, just down the road from me!), but I also enjoy weiss, saisons, and fruity stuff in the summer. The only stuff I can't get behind are the crazy hoppy beers, which is weird because those are really what first got me into good beer. Changing taste buds, I guess!

@lemondrop: That's my favorite beer too! Sometimes I prefer the 8 though to taste less alcohol (when I can get my hands on it). DH and I passed through Rochefort a few years ago and spent the evening, it's a very cute little town.
@littlebug: @lovehoneybee: Have you guys tried Troegs Mad Elf? It's their Christmas beer, I it.
honeydew / 7504 posts
@Maysprout: Mad Elf is probably their only beer that I can't rely get on board with. I can only drink one before I get sick of the taste. Too rraisony for me.

Almost forgot- Great Lakes Christmas Ale! We usually bribe family members living in Ohio to ship us some for Christmas.
Must give Troegs a try, will have to check out their distribution!

Right now, probably Founder's Breakfast Stout. So dark and delicious! I also love pretty much anything Dogfish Head.

@Maysprout: No I haven't! I'll have to keep an eye out!

Ohhh, a beer thread!
I'm a hophead, too! I love Sierra Nevada's special wet and fresh hop ales. Beers coming out of San Diego also tend to be awesome.
My husband and I just started home brewing. Anyone else making beer at home?

I love anything hoppy too! I like all different styles though. always craft brew. Current favorite is the Avery Out of Bounds stout, brewed here in Colorado.
@LindsayInNY: I use untappd I love getting badges!
@sometimesshesings: We have been homebrewing for a few years but are currently on hiatus because we started kegging and then our keg fridge died We are updating our basement though, and building a bar with two taps, and you better believe we will have homebrews on tap!

Another vote for a good IPA! A Lagunitas IPA can do no wrong in my book. I'm going to have to check out all the great suggestions. Fun thread!

@littlebug: Two hearted is my favorite beer too!
@lovehoneybee: I'm a big fan of Troeg's perpetual ale too.
Also, Troeg's is a great place to take kids - it's so loud in there, and they have snacks at the snack bar - that no one cares if your kid's yelling. My husband was just there last night!
i really like Bell's Winter White, a lot of Dogfish Head, and I had an Otto's Apricot Wheat last night that was delicious.
ETA: my husband homebrews occasionally and bottled a beer when i was in early labor. He got labels made with L's newborn picture on them.
honeydew / 7504 posts
@Brassgiraffe: Yes, I love Lagunitas!
@dagret: Hubs bottled a homebrew in October and submitted it to our church's Oktoberfest homebrew competition. He named it Little Tyke IPA and put D's picture on the label. He took 4th out of over 30 beers!
@meredithNYC: @dagret: @lovehoneybee: Agreed, Dogfish Head can do no wrong. I'm trying to get my hands on their American Beauty that they just released for Hubs for Christmas.
@sometimesshesings: @shellio: My husband's been homebrewing for a few years. Right now he has a clone of Young's Double Chocolate Stout. Mmmm....
He mostly does clone recipes from a book that my sister and brother-in-law gave him, but for Christmas I'm getting him a book that will teach him how to make up his own recipes. Hmm...I'm sensing a theme in my Christmas gifts this year, ha ha!

Definitely Double/Imperial IPAs: Dogish 90 Minute, Smuttynose Big A, River Horse Hop-A-Lot-Amus, Harpoon Leviathan, Weyerbacher's Double Simcoe are all some favourites from our old local Whole Foods. As they are so packed with flavour, it's easy to (a) take forever to drink just one bottle, and (b) make a six-pack last a really long time!
I also want to try the Hoptimus Prime sometime, mainly for the name.
persimmon / 1081 posts
Not a fan of hoppy beers, even though I may drink it if it's around I feel like in the last several years it's become overdone, like oak in wine.
I like the pilsner at the moat brewery in North Conway, nh, and magic hat no. 9 if I can get it on tap.
pear / 1614 posts
@Brassgiraffe: Love Lagunitas!!
@LindsayInNY: Added! Drink up
@dagret: So cool that your hubby made labels with the newborn pic on them A friend's husband owns a brewery here and while she was pregnant they made a mead (I believe) that will age for 21 years so they can share it with LO. Seems like a long time to wait!
