I'm looking for something to help prevent wrinkles and to brighten. Less than $50.

I think Obagi products are the best thing you can buy, and they have an eye cream called Elastiderm that I think really works. Anything can moisturize but that's the only thing I've ever used that actually made things kind of seem tighter....If you shop around on the internet, you can find it for $50-$60....

I'm a fan of Clinique All About Eyes. It's at a great price point, moisturizing and not too heavy. Brightening may be an unrealistic goal for eye cream. You can always use a highlighter if you need one.

for daytime, my favorite is Dr. hauschka day eye cream. Never greasy, super light but effective. It's $55, but should last you about 6 months with daily wear.
Night, my favorites are Shisedo WrinkleResist which is $55 and Perricone MD firming cream, which is $72 - both will last several months not being stingy on your application.

I really like Kiehls eye cream. Right now I'm using a Bobbi Brown one and it's just ok.

Can someone tell me what eye cream is really *for*? What prime is it supposed to solve, esp at those prices? I've never used one.

@Boogs: I use the All About Eyes cream morning and night (if I remember to wash my face at night ) and then the YSL I use just in the morning. Its an under eye brightener/concealer. It truly is a great product. The girls at Sephora or any major dept store can help you find the right shade.
