I usually get to work 15-20 minutes early, so I get to drink my coffee & eat my breakfast while reading the news/HBing in complete silence. It's probably my favorite thing about being a WOHP....I definitely don't get to drink my coffee in peace on the weekends!

Coffee breaks sans toddler, running errands at lunch sans toddler, bathroom breaks sans toddler 
Oh, and reading my book on the subway to and from work. And, big hugs after work!!

When I'm at work, my favorite thing is probably socializing with coworkers or hanging out with my frequent flyer kiddos (the type that come hang out before school, after school, and on their lunch break in the library). I'm never, ever alone at work though, that's a downside. It's hard to make phone calls to the doctor or make appointments because there are kids in the library basically all day. I get more alone time at home with LO taking naps.

Definitely time out of the house with other adults, away from my son. It sounds horrible, but I think it makes me a better mom.

Socializing with my coworkers and then seeing how excited J is to see me at the end of the day when he yells 'MOMMY!!!!' and runs to hug me.

The routine. I know it sounds nuts, but at the end of the day, what works for me best is to have a plan for how I spend my days. When I leave things too open ended, I can't begin tasks and I waste A LOT of time.

Not having to change all the poopy diapers Xander has during the day! (and lately, I've managed to avoid changing any diapers during the work day)
Also being able to socialize with adults, surf the web without someone banging on my keyboard, and go to the bathroom with the door closed!

Spending part of my day not thinking about what the baby needs. It's relaxing to be by myself for part of my day. That and the leisure to eat slowly.

@babyjmama: @lawbee11: Daycare pickup is probably the worst part of the day for me! Yesterday, Xander took one look at me when I showed up and then turned away! And then he cried and fought me the entire time I was trying to get him out of the room! He HATES leaving daycare!

Making money and having "me" time without worrying about DS. At home, he's always up to something so even if I pee at home, he's turning the faucet on and off on the bathtub.

*hugs* DS normally lights up when he sees me and is ready to go home, but now that he's getting older, if he's enjoying himself at the moment, he's not in a hurry to come to me. It happened the other day. He was smitten with the plastic ice cream cone he was playing with and didn't even flinch when I came into the room.

@lawbee11: haha, I would, but he carpools and doesn't always get home early enough! Plus I like being able to talk to the teachers about his day and Hubs wouldn't do that!

Running errands, going to appointments by myself, getting an eyebrow wax during lunch, listening to NPR while working, paycheck.
I do daycare drop off. My mornings are a mixed bag. Waking LO up with a banana in hand has made me popular the past two days when he hates waking up.

@Grace: There's definitely some pros to working. When I went back, it was an extremely stressful time for my husband and I. Working and focusing on it brought some balance to the chaos in my personal life at the time.
I spoke with a professional colleague recently. She said that she never thought about being a SAHM when she had her kids 18 years ago. It was an interesting perspective to hear as I sometimes struggle with it.

@MamaMoose: Probably. LO was talking about me on the way home when Daddy picked him up yesterday. I did it yesterday because I ran out of time to finish it in the morning. I gave it to him. He was happy. This morning, it was a total bribe. I like a happy dude in the morning compared to the tears and tantrums about putting on a shirt. I'm still figuring out his wins versus mine in the morning to make it easier.

I get a lot of satisfaction out of putting my brain and degrees to good use. And in the end, I enjoy the time I get with my kid MORE because otherwise I get burnt out.

I love the chance to run errands by myself at lunch time. At home, I'm always with my husband and my baby and at work I'm always with my coworkers so I savor my time alone. Somewhere I read Tina Fey say her idea of heaven was walking around Target alone with a huge fountain Diet Coke and I totally agree!

Pro-kid aspects:
I love our drive to daycare together each morning. He's only 17 months but i talk to him the whole way in and sing with him.
Daycare pickup- he gets the biggest smile on his face and comes running!
I feel like I appreciate my time with my son so much more.
