I love making decorated sugar cookies. Probably because I have an unhealthy attachment to my piping bag and tips, haha.
If I'm going to a potluck or something, I love trying out new bars and squares recipes. My current fave are peanut butter and jelly bars.

@redsmarties: DH loves peanut butter and jelly (I call them peanut butter jelly time) cookies. I saw them on the food network and thought they looked weird but wanted to give them a try, so glad I did!

I love baking banana bread- it make the house smell so good and uses up my brown bananas
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@artbee: Yeah, these squares have a base like a peanut butter cookie, then a layer of jelly, then a peanut/peanut butter crumble on top. SO good.

@redsmarties: Is it the crumble nutty? I just cut out a recipe for peanut butter and jelly bars out of a magazing with a nutty top, but I don't like nuts unless they're in the form of creamy peanut butter, so I was planning to omit them. Do you mind sharing your recipe?
@Chillybear: Love banana bread! I usually buy extra bananas hoping that there will be some left over by the time they start going bad so I can use them for banana bread. And it's so easy to make!

@artbee: Yeah, its got chopped peanuts in it. I think you could probably omit them though, without any major consequences. Here's the recipe!
Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
2 1/2 cups smooth peanut butter
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups strawberry jam, or other flavor
2/3 cup salted peanuts, roughly chopped
Directions
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9-by-13-inch pan and line with foil or parchment. Beat butter and sugar in the bowl of a mixer. Beat on medium-high speed until fluffy, about 2 minutes. On medium speed, add eggs and peanut butter; beat until combined, about 2 minutes.
Whisk together salt, baking powder, and flour. Add to bowl of mixer on low speed; combine. Add vanilla. Transfer two-thirds of mixture to prepared pan; spread evenly with offset spatula. Using offset spatula, spread jam on top of peanut-butter mixture. Dollop remaining third of peanut-butter mixture on top of jam. Sprinkle with peanuts.
Bake until golden, about 45 minutes.
Enjoy!

bread - I LOVE bread. And bread-like items, muffins, cinnamon rolls etc. I try to make "healthier" versions of these recipes; use whole wheat flour, or coconut or almond flour, no sugar - instead use honey, no oil- use butter... etc.
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
@Sweet T: of course! Its for the top and bottom crust, so if you just need the bottom half it. 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup oil, 1/4 cup milk. Mix with your hands, and don't over mix. It's very scamp so you have to roll it super thin.
