Sugar cookies. They don't taste good and they take ALL day to make. DH watched the LO's yesterday and decided to bake sugar cookies. He ran out of flour (to roll with) so he chilled the dough so I could finish them today while he's at work.
My kitchen is crazy gross now! And I don't have anything good to show for it

@Running Elley: lol same. Especially recipes that I've memorized so I can whip it together before the oven is done pre-heating. Anything that takes forever is a pain.

@HLK208: Exactly When I get the urge to bake it's usually because I've gotten the urge to eat what I'm baking and it has to be done before I've gone crazy snacking and don't want to eat it anymore haha.

Right now with it still warm that would be everything! Our house gets SO hot when the oven is on... DH has been wanting sausage & potatoes forever but I refuse to make it! lol
Otherwise I've failed at cookies every time I've tried to make them.

Nothing! Seriously though, it would be baking for any situation where I have to balance lots of different tastes and dietary restrictions - it can get impossible.
But the more complicated the recipe, the more fun it is for me, usually.

Hmm... I actually like baking for the most part. I guess I maybe don't enjoy making Swiss Merengue Buttercream because it takes sooo damn long it feels like, but it's so delicious and pretty when it is done that it seems worth it.
I do agree that sugar cookies are an ordeal. The making, the rolling, the cutting, the baking, the decorating--- bah! Although I think they are really tasty and always super cute so those seem worth it too. (I put almond extract in my recipe and I think it makes all the difference!). Last time I made ninjas for my husband to take to work... lol.

I like to bake but I bake everything gluten free. The absolute worst is to spend half the day making something and then have it not turn out at all. Sadly this happens a lot with gluten free baking!

@prettylizy: My signature pie is apple with a crumb topping rather than a double-crust. Both because it is delicious and also because I can never make my crusts pretty so this way no one really sees the bottom crust and I don't have to make a top one!

I like most baking. I'm perfectly happy to spend most of a day playing with a complicated recipe or decorating.
The only thing I don't like is recipes that dirty literally every dish and surface in my kitchen.
