@travellingbee: He really likes ABC by Alison Jay. He mostly likes the pictures.
The illustrations are great and the pictures tell a story as you go through the alphabet. -
We have this one and he loves opening up the flaps and telling us what they are.

Dr. Seuss ABC's (the amazing alphabet one) is one of her faves, along with the Big Board Book of Colors, Letters, Numbers; and the Alphablock.
