Ugh. So is this something only people who have to actually TRY to get pregnant, get multiple BFNs, and suffer loss know not to ask???!
A (PREGNANT) girl who met me 5 minutes prior asked me at a party in my own home this weekend. Whenever people ask that question I get so mad on the inside. Thankfully I am at the point after my miscarriage where I can hear that question and not cry, but I may take the brutally honest approach from now on.
I looked her in the eye and said, "We ARE trying, HAVE been trying for almost a year. It's not that easy. Trust me."
Because seriously, unless you're about to become my confidant and be there for the BFNs, blood tests, TWW, etc., then why does it matter to you??? She was 14 weeks pregnant and proud, I should have been in my 38th. Maybe that's what I should have said to her. Or maybe I'm just a mean girl. Yeah. On Wednesdays I wear pink.
I really think that people just don't know any better. Until you've had to try for months and months on end and suffered a loss or are familiar with others who have been through so much, it really doesn't occur to people that others might be struggling. I'm glad you said something to her though so maybe she'll think twice next time she feels like asking this question!
