We usually keep most of our Christmas decorations up til after the new year, but we took our big tree down last night due to some unforeseen issues with some renovations (whole other post UGH) we have going on in the great room.
We still have our exterior lights up and small decor/flowers around the house, but the big tree had to go! DS1 slept over at my parents last night and will be surprised to see the tree gone!

We took our tree down on the 26th, lol. We have a few decorations still up but for the most part we have taken everything down! I want to start the year fresh

We took our tree down last night because we are having a piano delivered today and it needs to go in that space. Otherwise we would have left it until next weekend.

The 26th! Usually I leave the décor up until the first of the year, but I was in a cleaning/organizing mood and it was much easier to do that with my house back to normal. And I wanted my living room back and the tree takes up so much space! I did leave some non-Christmas stuff out (glitter trees/pinecones) ect. as décor to still make it feel "warm and cozy."

It all came down on Saturday.
Baby sister's birthday is today and I want it to feel like a different celebration.

They will come down very soon I think. I like to start the new year clean and tidy. Plus, the tree is getting old and brown.

I would do it this weekend, but we're hosting a holiday brunch on Sunday....so it looks like the following weekend will be it.

DH took down the outside lights the day after Christmas. I took down the interior stuff yesterday. I just wanted it clean because DD2 is a nutcase and into everything!

I've started taking ornaments down but DH and the kids are adamant that the tree should stay up. So sometime after January 1st I hope to have the house on the way towards getting birthday party ready

We put everything away yesterday. If we didn't have 2 kids who were constantly after all the decorations, I'd think about leaving it up a little longer.. but I also just really like getting the house back in order after Christmas.
