Are you being monitored? I had a tough time responding to Clomid and if they had just given it to me and said good luck, I would've been SOL. I took it CD3-7, and went back for monitoring a few days later, maybe CD10? Then again a few days later, ~CD13. They would realize the dose didn't work and have me start again on a higher dose. A week later I would go back for more monitoring.

The first cycle on Clomid we did this 3 times - 50mg, 100mg, and 150mg. I finally ovulated and it resulted in a CP. The cycle after that we started at a higher dose and I think did it twice before my RE said it wasn't going to work at all.

If I hadn't been being monitored it would've wasted so much more time. And FYI, I had something similar happen with Femara - started at 5mg (the middle dose) and then did 7, which I responded to.

@pui: Back when I first started all this, I was really frustrated at my GYN for not just giving me an rx for Clomid and sending me on my way. I saw so many people on WB start Clomid and BAM! get pregnant. But after seeing how I respond to the drugs (which in some cases is not at all) I realize how necessary the monitoring can be.

Push your primary dr for a referral ASAP. Giving someone Clomid without monitoring is bordering on irresponsible IMO. You can only take it so many times, and if they're not monitoring you and you don't respond right away, you've basically wasted an opportunity.

@pui: Maybe just call and as for a status on it? Just to make sure they are working on it? Or do they not like you doing that? I just like to stay really on top of all my medical stuff and make sure nothing falls through the cracks (I have seen it happen way too many times).

@pui: I was on 50 mg of clomid for two cycles and was never monitored. I had horrible migraines and my RE switched me to Femara and I got pregnant that cycle. Remember everyone is different and try to trust that if your doctor was worried about it not working you'd know.

@MrsCB: I was but not regularly. My body would try and try but never follow through. My cycles were 60ish days. I agree that it is different for everyone, and based on that its important to try and stay positive while trying to trust your doctor. It's so easy to be pulled down during the infertility journey.

Yeah, you should be monitored. When I was on Clomid, a few days after I was supposed to O, I went in to get my progesterone levels checked to see if it happened. If not, they prescribed me provera and upped my Clomid dosage.

@spaniellove: @pui: Agreed...your doctor should have induced AF before putting you on clomid.

@Shutterbug: I think it was day 16, but yeah. On the third cycle, I O'ed and conceived my DS.

@pui: I think you should call and at least get your doctor to schedule you for the 21 day Progesterone test. It is just a simple blood test, no need for an RE for it. They should be able to tell you within a day or two after the test if your progesterone levels indicate you O'd (I believe it's a level of 10 or higher for a regular cycle, 15 or higher for medicated cycle), so there will be no guessing on your part. @pui: PLEASE take this advice! I was on clomid about a year ago by my OBGYN I was not monitored except for a 21 day progestrone blood test, each time it supposively showed that I did O! But.......a year later my RE said those 4 months I was on it could have been a waste due to the fact that even if I did O clomid surpresses estrogen so ot can at times make your linning weak and your CM hostile to sperm :/......soooo he said to truly be sure it is working you need to take it and have an ultrasound on day 1 of the pills and again 2 days after the last pill to compare, chexk follicle sizes and linning, then do blood work on day 21 to check for ovulation!!!! Please advocate for yourself and ask for the 21day blood work up, or if at best an ultrsound next cycle too if need be!!!!!
