OMG. After 17 months of taking a hike, AF has returned. I'm 7 months and 3 weeks postpartum.
Grrrrreat.
When did AF make her comeback in your life?

Congrats!! Welcome back Aunty Flow.
I don't remember anymore when mine returned.

@Andrea: @chopsuey119: I seriously want to cry. It's like the end of an era to me. The biology behind WHY AF came back baffles me...I'm still nursing just as much as I was a couple of months ago, WHY!? WHY!?!?!??! (Can you tell how annoyed I am? LOL)

@Rubies: It might be the fact that R's sleeping through the night. I got mine back when M started sleeping 12 hours. Sucks though cause now she wakes up 1-2x a night!
I'm still nursing all stinking day (every 3 hours!)

@Rubies: I guess so people can start going for #2? I dunno!
hostess / eggplant / 11068 posts
@chopsuey119: Me too! Yeah, LO wakes up once in the night (occasionally twice)...and I nurse every 3-4 hours in the day. SIGH. Oh wells.
@Andrea: LOL...

@Rubies: hehe. one more thing to think about now! sorry your era has ended.

@Rubies: @Andrea: I've "worried" about being pregnant every stinking month since I got my period 5 months ago! Pick up some of those cheapie pregnancy tests!

I got mine at around 7 or 8 months too. I was like "WTF? I"m still pumping girlfriend! What's up with the blood?". I was really annoyed too. >=(

I only breastfed a week, but for some reason the milk didn't want to leave my body so AF stayed away for a while. I think it was because I still did a lot of skin on skin and my body knew LO was there, it was weird. Now I'm on the pill where I only get my period every 3 months so I don't get it too often anyway.

Oh that stinks. I'm 8 months pp. flow hasn't returned yet but my supply is all wacky these days so I bet it'll come back soon. Not looking forward to it at all.

WOW! I did not think AF stayed away for that long. I was under the assumption it can come back immediately even IF you nurse?
So even if AF doesn't come back you can still get pregnant? That makes no sense to me?? confused...

Ugh, mine showed up 29 days after having a C-section. I've had my period 4 times since giving birth in December.

@regberadaisy: Yeah, it's weird, but you can still ovulate without getting a period. You're best protected from starting to ovulate again if you are breastfeeding during the night too. A lot of women start ovulating again once their babies start sleeping thru the night around 4-6 mos old. Or else around 6 mos old when they have to start feeding baby solids. But it's not foolproof birth-control cause you can't know if you're ovulating. stinks, doesn't it?!
Well, I'm only 4 weeks pp so obviously I don't have it, but it's interesting to hear everyone else's.
Just curious, while you're breastfeeding, what type of birth control are you ladies using?
I'm trying to decide what to do that will allow me to continue breastfeeding and so far all I have come up with is condoms.

@miss-spunkin: my LO started sleeping through at 3.5 weeks and AF didn't return until after I weaned at 8 months. BF levels are no indicator of ovulation, it's individual to every woman. I took the mini pill whilst BF. There weren't any downsides of it for me. Just make sure you are taking/doing something or you may have kids 12 months apart!

@Rubies: Ugh, I felt the same way! Mine showed up 6 months after I gave birth, I'm still annoyed by it!

@Boogs: I know AF's return is expected but honestly, isn't it the most annoying and irritating thing? I'm still upset! LOL.
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@Rubies: It is! I think the most annoying thing is that I think we just hope/assume that it won't come as long as we are BFing, lol.

We are still BFing at 7 months, I'm really hoping it doesn't return too soon. She's still not STTN yet.

ack - guess Im one of the lucky ones. Mine returned last week. 13 months after I gave birth! (Still BFing, but down to one feeding at bedtime)

right? I had to go buy new tampons because I was afraid the old ones would give me Toxic Shock Syndrome! 22 months without it and I did not miss it one iota!

2-3 months after i stopped pumping with charlie, so almost the year mark. i'm almost 6 months postpartum now and no period in sight. i'm hoping it's like it was last time and won't come back until i wean! we deserve to not have a period while we're breastfeeding!
hostess / eggplant / 11068 posts
@Mrs. Bee: Seriously! I'm still annoyed at my period. It's like, "What the heck...I'm STILL breastfeeding! Lay off!!!" Grrr.
BTW, I can't believe Olive is almost 6 months old!
