So far R doesn't get DH is gone for 4 days a week. The smile when she sees him on Friday mornings, melts my heart though. Dreading when she starts to notice he is gone and asks for Dada.
When did your LO notice it?

She didn't notice for a while.. At almost 3 she knows he goes away for work sometimes and misses him, but she's fine when he's not around.

@chopsuey: So I don't need to worry about this for another year or so?

@Smurfette: yep! you should be good for another year. and if she misses him, just skype or have him record videos for her and text them to you.

DH travels a few times a year for work and less since DD was born. He was away for 3 days when she was about 6 months old and she didn't notice, but he was away from 2 weeks when she was 11 mo and she HATED it - she would crawl around our room asking "dada? dada?" and would just melt when we did Face Time. Same thing when he traveled for a week at 13 months.
She really hates "talking" to him on the phone without Face Time because she gets excited when she hears his voice, but then confused when he is not there.

DH was away for 2 wks at 13 months and he was happy to see him but didn't realize he was gone. We just went away for a week without DH and he definitely knew and asked for him. He cries for him around dinner time too. He's 21 months. I'm guessing he would have realized it around 18 months.
