I'm so restless at 8 days PP and I want to go somewhere without DH and the kids!
I had a C-section and I'm not supposed to drive for 6 weeks but I think I will start as soon as I stop taking narcotic pain meds!

I had a c-section and drove after a week with my husband and LO and two weeks by myself with LO. Are you sure you're not allowed to drive until 6 weeks? My doctor never said that.

I would think as long as you've been cleared by your doctor it would be fine. I've heard some insurances require that for coverage.

@mrs. tictactoe: yeah, he put it specifically on my off work order this time. But I have a follow up appt next week so I will ask again!

I had a c-section and the dr told me not to drive until they cleared me even though I wasn't taking any narcotics or pain meds. I figured (could be totally wrong) that I needed time for my stitches and scars to heal and if I was driving and had to slam on the breaks, it could be a problem. At my 6weeks pp appt, I was cleared. But I was driving before that around 4 weeks.

13 days. I had a vaginal delivery, but was told that I couldn't drive for 2 weeks. They said it was because I might have a sudden painful cramp and might wreck from that?! Seemed crazy, but whatever.

Hmmm, I have no idea actually? Maybe 2.5 weeks after LO was born, once my DH went back to work?

I had a c-section and they told me two weeks. I think I drove a few days before that. I didn't take any painkillers anyway.

I drove the day we got home. I had to pick up a few things at the pharmacy.

I drove maybe 3 weeks pp? My discharge papers said the standard 2 weeks pp. I never got that with my first LO but they said its mandatory for discharge for all bc of the hormonal changes and driving are a bad combo? Those were their words, not mine.

@Mrs. Jacks: I know! When they told me that 2 wk restriction I immediately asked and that's what they said and that they tell all mothers. They had lots of new rules that year, including dads to not be present in the room when getting an epidural, which wasn't the case before. They said one of the new dads fainted during that procedure and had to be admitted for head trauma while his wife was in labor.

Two weeks per doctor's orders. He always likes to check how you're csection is healing in two weeks before ok-ing driving.
