When did you decide to start dropping pumping sessions?

I started dropping because it was either that or quit completely. I EP and was getting so sick of being stuck to the pump 24/7 and not enjoying my LO's newborn days. She's 2 months now and I pump 4 times a day which allows me to give her about 75% BM, 25% formula. 4 is totally manageable for me so I'll keep on keeping on!

I also EP, I dropped sessions after I had no choice one day and realized I had the same output. I put 4 X a day which, while annoying, is ok. I pump at 8a, 1p, 5p, 8p which gives me plenty to feed R for the day.
Maybe try it one day and measure if your output is affected? I found that even if I pumped 6 times a day, I still get the same amount.

LO is about 10 months--usually i pump 4x/day, but in the last couple of weeks there have been days where i pump only 3x. i don't have a specific plan on how i'm going to drop pumping sessions, but i'm getting lazy and LO's milk intake has dropped by a few ounces, so i don't feel as pressured to pump 4x every single day.

At 8 months: 5x a day
9: 4x a day
10: 3x a day
11: 2x a day

I EP too. From 0-3 months, I think I pumped about 8-10x per day. From 3-5 months (where I'm at now), it is typically 6x a day, although sometimes it's only 5x on weekends. I plan on either stopping around 6 months, or cutting back pumping sessions by a lot at that time.

I was pumping 3x/day until 9 months (i have been super busy at work), and i've only been pumping 2x a day since then. Thinking of upping it to 3x again. I need to count my freezer stash again.

@Mrs. Taco: Ditto - I was shocked to see that I still got the same amount whether I pumped 4 times or 6 times.
I pump at 9am, 2pm, 6pm, 10pm.

I dropped as my supply dipped. I started out 3x a day when I went to work at 8 weeks. At 3 months I dropped to 2 a day (my third pump only garnered 1 oz) and now, at 4.5 months, I've dropped to 1. I would have much preferred to keep going at 2x a day, but my supply isn't having it.

I was pumping 3x/day until 12m when I dropped to 2x/day. I stopped pumping completely at just under 14m

I also pumped about 6x pd and started dropping sessions when DD was 6 months. Every couple days I dropped a session till I was down to once a day and then stopped completely. Luckily I had a major oversupply so I had enough frozen stash to last her until she was 1.

I'm also an EPer and I dropped from 8x a day to 7 around 1 month. Then from 7-6 times around 6 or 7 weeks? I stayed at 6 until after LO was 3 months then I went back and forth for a couple weeks doing 6 one day and 5 another.
Now I just do 5. My supply has dropped a bit (When I pumped 6 times a day I was making about 45 oz a day and now I'm down to maybe only 37-38 oz?) BUT as an awesome side effect I rarely get clogged ducts or milk blisters/clogged nipple pores anymore. I used to get them CONSTANTLY. Like, almost every day. And now (knock on wood) I haven't had one in almost 3 weeks. I think I just had too much milk in there, lol.
I typically pump 7:30 am, 11 am, 2:30 pm, 6pm, and 9:30 pm. When I go back to work in a week, that will shift a bit. I now get a lot out of my first pump of the day, but much less than I used to out of the rest of my pumps.

@leelee: how many ounces did you have in your stash? I have a small stash and am wondering how much more I need before I can start dropping a session!
@Anagram: OMG!!!! I can totally relate on the clogged ducts! I geth them all the flipping time and I don't know why!!! I pump regularly on schedule for 20 minutes, and still get them. I even hand express after each session too!! They're so darn painful and I keep hoping DS will unclog me when we nurse. When he doesn't, I cry a lil because it'll be awhile before he nurses again and attempts to unclog it.

@Alivoo01: it was around 4000 ounces I think. Since I was EP I knew exactly how many ounces she needed a day and then multiplied by how many days were left till she was 1 to see how any ounces I needed in the stash. I believe on average babies consume 25 ounces a day. I downloaded a free banking app (the ones made for breast milk cost money) and each time I added and removed I entered it into the app as a deposit or withdrawal. Highly recommend it because I was using post it's at first and kept losing them! Goodluck

Around 10.5 months I dropped my morning and before-bed pumps, around 11 months I dropped 1 out of 2 work pumps, and around 11.5 months I dropped the last work pump. I had enough freezer stash to get me through to his 1-year birthday on BM.
Still nursing twice a day, but today was his last bottle of frozen breastmilk (he was having 1 cow's milk bottle and 1 bm bottle during the day).

@leelee: 4,000oz?! Holy moly.... I probably have a little under 500oz right now, but I only pump 3x a day (at work). We nurse when I'm at home. He's 4 months old. I'll have to look into the app you're talking about! Great way to keep track.
