I feel ya....I'm insanely in love with our 2 week old..obsessed actually....but:
We never bond... He eats then sleeps and I change his diaper. Repeat.
He screams during baths when we go out he sleeps in his carseat the whole time and when he eats he eats with his eyes closed and then sleep directly as he finishes so, we have no playtime...no signing time...no bedtime stories... It's kinda hard.
But I assume in the next few weeks he will get on somewhat of a schedule and start having more energy to stay up and be alert enough to play a bit.

I did not bond with my LO immediately and I felt awful for it. I had a case of PPD and did not enjoy caring for my LO for the first 5-7 weeks of his life. Looking back, I feel jipped on the magical experience many other moms experience. Honestly, I didn't feel bonded with him until he was about 4 months old. I love him now at 7 months but it took me a while to get to this stage. I look back at the first few weeks of his life with dread and it makes me so sad that I don't have fond memories. In the beginning my MIL kept asking me questions like,"Didn't you just fall in love at first glance?" "Don't you just want to have another one right away?"--it always made me feel so awful, what kind of terrible mother am I to not bond with my newborn child? I'm hoping for a better experience when I have my second.

I voted 3 months, but probably somewhere between 2 and 3? The newborn stage was a sad, trying time for me. But now, LO makes my heart swell with happiness. At 5 months, she is a giggly, smiling, alert little sweetheart. You'll get there! And for now, don't be too hard on yourself, as the bonding can take a little while for some moms.

I felt pretty bonded instantly, but I think it really, truly, completely hit me how much I adored her around 6 weeks. That's when we were getting into a rhythm, she was interacting more, and the haze of the initial newborn days was finally starting to fade.

I had very conflicting emotions at the beginning. I felt bonded to DD from birth, but at the same time I felt very resentful of that bond at the beginning (I had pretty severe postpartum depression). These days our bond is very solid, and much more healthy in nature. It does take until at least 3 months for babies to really start feeling interactive though. Those first 3 months are a lot of eat, poop, sleep, repeat.
