I was thinking about doing it with R but at 13 months, probably is going to just be a horid mess.

It was before 1....maybe 10 mos? We didn't separate the yolk/white and he did just fine. He's not a fan of them now though (20mos) so I don't give them to him anymore.

haha! I saw someone on facebook yesterday posted that they dyed eggs with shaving cream and food coloring - you just coat the eggs in it and then let it sit... I would use whipped cream so he could eat it too lol! I think I might try that later this week.

We'll be skipping the mess this yr (17 mths)! Egg hunt instead!

haha, i would not dye eggs with a 1 year old unless you use washable dyes
E *loves* hard boiled eggs, though! I did dye some peeled eggs for her birthday party, which was colorful and fun

@mrsjyw: @blackbird: Ok good! I was wondering if I was just being a lazy parent! I will just have my parents hide some eggs for her!

I'm definitely not doing it this year! With LO at 14 months, I can't deal with that kind of mess. Maybe not for a few years, honestly.

@smurfette: My DS is 15 months and I was wondering the same thing (about being a lazy parent, too!). Thanks for posting this.
@mrs. pen: The shaving cream/whipped cream with food coloring idea is brilliant! I'm definitely trying that one day.

@smurfette, hell no, lol. I will fill and hide some plastic eggs in the yard--E loves picking stuff up and putting them in bags/baskets/etc, but I'm not dying real eggs with her!

My son is three and we still haven't done it. I was thinking he could totally manage to put stickers on eggs, but then I'd have to hard boil them, and it's not worth it to me.

Our LO is 19 months so I'm not sure. I keep picturing cups of food dye vinegar being kicked around the kitchen in a tantrum fit. I want to do a fun Easter project though so was thinking of maybe dying the eggs myself and once they're dry DD can decorate them with mini stickers or something less messy. I'll let you know how it works out!

Not yet, she wouldn't "get" it yet so we're not doing it yet.

@looch: We only dye hard boiled eggs.......how do you?

DS did it first at 20 months. It was fun, but he lost interest fast. He did enjoy hunting for them, though.

Yesterday at 18 months She loved it although she kept wanting to toss the "ball" into the cups because she liked the splash...Thankfully we had an old sheet down to absorb that mess! ha
