How was your experience?
LO was 14.5 months when i took her to a sushi restaurant by myself! I made sure it was child friendly, and went early enough (11:30am) that we wouldn't be a nuisance. I find that when LO is into the food, she is pretty well-behaved. I was pretty nervous having to manage her (ALONE!) and eat my food at the same time, but it all worked out in the end.

As a baby, lots. The first time was at 4 weeks. As a mobile toddler in a highchair...not yet!

Within 6 weeks? I started meeting friends for lunch pretty early on. I quickly learned that wearing her worked the best! Made for some awkward eating but she was always well behaved. I just made sure I could eat things over her head

@travelgirl1: When i got to the restaurant, it hit me that i had never been alone with her at a restaurant. I was pretty nervous not having anyone to help me!
@blackbird: I always had to make sure i had the cover over her head, otherwise she would get littered with crumbs and sauce.
@autumnlove: It's definitely easier to tote them around when they're a baby. Mine always wants to stand on top of the high chair...those "seatbelts" do nothing to restrain them!

@Freckles: @blackbird: I dropped salsa on R's head once at home. Luckily she was sleeping in the Ktan and didn't notice me cleaning her up.
I haven't got out with her just me. I have met my Mom before but that was all. Still was a two man team.

@Freckles: @Freckles: @Smurfette: Once when E was bitty I dropped a forkful of lo mein on his head....and rice, but I didn't know about that until later, when I was giving him a bath. Not too bad, though, considering how often I held him in the first few months (all.of.the.time).
I used to take him out to eat with me a lot when he was a newborn and would sleep in the stroller or car seat or whatever. I haven't tried it since he became more aware (and mobile).

When she was still a baby-baby and managed to sleep for about 30 minutes in her carseat or something, I'd get to gobble some food in the food court of a mall or something. But when she was about 15/16 months I started taking her out to eat and I was scared! The best place for me to take her is for pho because it's soooooooooooooooo quick - no waiting around and having to entertain her. Whenever we go out we always bring a small bowl, her utensils and a pair of scissors. At pho, I just dump some noodles and beef in her bowl, cut it all up, and she takes her spoon and goes nuts.
Other than than pho, I haven't been brave enough to take her anywhere fancier by myself. With DH, we're out all the time, though.

I took DD to olive garden when she was 14 months old. She did well!

Around 13 months we ate at the food court alone just bc it was cheaper! I would have had no qualms eating at a restaurant with her though!
