I don't even know, my husband took care of that. The lady at his HR department was already ready for it because she knew I was pregnant.

We called the insurance company when we got home from the hospital.. so 2-3 days after she was born!

I called mine the other day to verify since my hospital acted like it was vital I called immediatley. They told me as long as its done within 30 days, I'm fine. I'll probably call the first week we get home, though.

I was told that it has to be done within the first 30 days, otherwise you'll have to wait until the next enrollment period to add a dependent.

We added them within 2 weeks of birth. We were deciding whether to change our ins plan...which we did.

It has to be done within the first 30 days or they have no coverage. So I called the Fay after we went home. She was 2 days.

We had 30 days to enroll her. I waited until I got her SSN so I could fill out a new enrollment form.

@bluestriped bee: @His Barista: @BabyBoecksMom: @Clementine: @crash806: Great, thank you. Sounds like the consensus is we don't have to do it the minute she's out of my uterus, but we do have to let them know sooner rather than later. I'll make sure we do it within a week, that will make us both feel more comfortable.

I think all DH had to do was email his HR lady so he could have done it from the hospital but he probably waited until he went back to work 3 days after the birth.

We knew we had 30 days, my husband did it within the first 2 weeks. He did all the birth certificate and insurance stuff at the same time.

@mediagirl: I can, of course, call on the following Monday. Assuming my husband and I have the presence of mind to do so!
