Did you install your carseat ahead of time in anticipation for labor? If so, at how many weeks did you install? I'll be 35 weeks in 2 days and am starting to think about this! DH says he'll just put it in at the hospital but I think we should have it in before then?? At least the base!

When I was in the hospital. Yep, we were those people. I nagged my husband to do it for weeks, but he never did. It was fine.

We put ours in yesterday at 37w1d. I had a few contractions over the weekend and was too paranoid to let it go un-installed much longer.

Last weekend -- I was 32 weeks. But I'm an anal obsessive planner and I'm all, "WHAT IF I GO INTO PREMATURE LABOR?!?!"

Id definitely install ahead of time & get it checked - we did ours at 34 weeks and had it checked by the police station and they changed it around even after we thought we were set. We also practiced taking it on/out/adjusting. Sounds lame, but we were so overwhelmed leaving with our tiny baby I'm glad we did!
ETA: my husband also said he'd do it while we were in the hospital - but once we were, and baby was here, he did not want to leave and was overtired so I'm glad he didn't

We received it as a Christmas gift and she was due at the end of March. I think I put it in Mid Jan? I was just so excited to see it in the back of my car. Also, it took up space in our house and I wanted it out of my living room!

We just installed ours yesterday, at a little over 39 weeks. Most people suggested to us that we install around 36 weeks, just in case, but we didn't get a chance to do it until yesterday.

We didn't even have a carseat when I went into labor. I was 34 weeks though. We were planning on puchasing and installing the carseat when I was around 36 weeks pregnant.

I'm hoping/assuming there will be someone at our hospital that can help install and check it once we get there.

We were going to install it around 36 weeks and the day we were going to my water broke. So, we installed it at the hospital.
@allison: We thought someone would be there to check it or help at the hospital, but there wasn't anyone. You can usually get it checked at your local fire or police department I think.

@allison: They told us at our childbirth class that they legally cannot and will not install or inspect our carseat for liability purposes! Maybe your hospital will be different!

I think around 36 weeks and we had it inspected at the police station. It's a good idea to do it ahead of time so it's one less thing u have to worry about once baby is here.

we're doing it when I go to the hospital...for my son we did it at 36 weeks.

I had a tuesday induction, we installed the car seat the sunday prior. Neither of us was in a hurry to do it.

We installed it in my husband's car at 36 weeks since that was the car we were planning to take to the hospital. The morning I went into labor, it turned out the light went on indicating low tire pressure. He had to quickly install the base in my car. My advice is to get bases set up in both cars if you do purchase multiple bases!

the morning we left the hospital - the guard did it for us, as he was a certified tech!

I actually installed the bases in both of our cars at about 35 weeks. I was getting antsy about it and DH kept procrastinating.

I think 1-2 months before my due date?
We have our infant seat in my car, but haven't installed it yet.
