When did you move your toddler out of the crib? Why? And into what? A toddler bed, regular twin or full?
I noticed last night that my 18month is already 3/4 the length of the crib! We're thinking we'll just transition her into a big girl bed when a second arrives so we don't have to buy a second crib.

Mine's 20 months and still in a crib. I don't think we'll transition her for awhile. Maybe when she's over 2?

At 2 into a twin so that the baby could use the crib.

We don't plan on transitioning him out until one of three things happens: he climbs out, he outgrows it, or we have baby #2. I'm hoping he stays in for awhile (19 months now). Once we do transition him we will probably go with a twin bed.

We switched the older one to toddler bed at 3 but that was still the crib essentially. We got him a big bed at 4. Our younger one is now in a toddler bed at 2. She's definitely more than 3/4 longer than the length of the bed.

I moved my son onto a twin floor bed at 12 months. I really don't have much of a reason besides wanting to try out the Montessori style room plus I wanted a different crib for baby #2. He is an amazing sleeper and I am very lucky!

3 yrs old - our cribs turn into full size beds so that's what they went in to
Why? Cuz he was climbing out!
I will probably move DD when she is 3 just because....

We removed the side from DD's crib/converted it to a toddler bed around 2yrs (in April). We dismantled our crib and put her in a twin size bed around June. Like you we didn't want to buy a second crib but also wanted to make sure that DD was secure in her new bed so there wouldn't be any jealousy issues with DS being in the crib. They share a room and when we set up the crib back up (around August), we talked about how she had a big girl bed and DS would have the baby bed (crib). When DS arrived DD was just shy of 2.5yrs and there were no problems at all.

We converted DD's crib to a toddler bed at 1.5yrs, and moved her into a twin bed at 2.5yrs. We need the crib for LO2.

I want him to stay in it FOREVER! But realistically, it'll be when he can climb out. God help us when that happens. He may burn the house down.

It's hard for me to imagine ever moving her out! I'm hoping we'll make it until we have another LO to go in the crib (so not for at least another year).

We ditched the crib when he was 8 months. And at 12 months we bought him a twin mattress for the floor. So far so good! He actually just sits up and waits for me to go get him. It was just easier for me when he was sleeping like crap to not have to hunch over the crib. Had he been a better sleeper, we probably would have kept him in his crib longer.

We just did it last month at about 33 months. He never tried to climb out and slept really well so we never felt the urge. However, baby2 will be here soon and we wanted him out before he felt like the baby was taking over his crib. We bought a regular twin with no rails and he hasn't fallen out. It has been about a month and the transition went much more smoothly than I would have imagined.

We made the switch at 19 months to a regular twin bed (step stool to get down on the end and we use the toddler bed rail) and it worked amazing for us. For the first few months, we still used the sleep sack and then ditched it after a month or two. At 2.5 our VERY active toddler still never gets out of bed on his own. We moved him about 3 months before the baby arrived at our doctors suggestion...she said any later and he may feel like his "safe place" is being stolen:)

My Dd moved at 18-20 mo since she was jumping out. DS hasn't gotten out but once (and hasn't really tried again) so we are gonna keep him in as long as he's willing to stay...
