E is 19.5 months and we're not planning on changing his crib to a toddler bed until he climbs out of it. He's never shown any interest in even trying, so I'm hoping that it will be a while yet!

Unless he starts climbing out, I want to keep him in there until LO2 comes along, so we don't need to buy another crib.

I've been thinking about this lately. LO has no interest in trying to climb out, but I think we will switch to twin bed around 2 or so, and keep the crib for future LO#2

@lovehoneybee: haha right about 20 months. Her sleep was horrible, transfers were ridiculous. We had nothing to lose. Sleep has been WAY better ever since.

DS is 16 months and happily in the crib, we'll probably think about it when he turns 2

DS age 3 when he climbed out
DD right before age 3 because we were given a set of full size mattress and I didn't want to store it

@locavore_mama: We're the opposite--he sleeps SO WELL in his crib and I'm really nervous about having to make that change!

We recently moved LO to a toddler bed at 20 months, but we were co sleeping and we were getting up with backaches and getting kicked in the face is not fun either. He's been in his bed for 2 days and it's been successful so far. He loves his new bed.

LO is 2 and still sleeps in her crib. We will probably convert it into a toddler bed when the rail arrives in 6-8 weeks!

We moved her to a toddler bed at 15 months since we have #2 on the way. She had never tried to climb out or anything but we wanted to transition her sooner rather than later. It was a super smooth transition, but she was already using a low cot at daycare for naps.

LO is 18 months and still hasn't tried to climb out. I'm also really nervous for the transition to a toddler bed. LO sleeps so well in his crib, so we'll likely wait until we have LO #2.

DS is 27 mos and still in his crib. I'm also waiting till he climbs out - we considered moving him out in anticipation of the new baby (now 4 mos old) but he sleeps so well and seems so comfortable and safe in his crib we are putting it off until we have to. He is not much of a climber so hopefully we have a while!

My DS is 2.5 year and still in his crib. We tried to get him out but it didn't work out. With my DD, it was around 20 months.

DS is 21 mo, and we don't plan to transfer him anytime soon. He also hasn't attempted to climb out, so there's that.

M is 18 months and sleeps so well in her crib. I want to keep her in it forever! She'll be 26 months when LO #2 arrives, so it'll probably be around that time unless she starts to hate the crib before then.

@Kimberlybee: Awww thanks, too bad he fell out of his bed this morning at 3am.

@mamabear57: oh no!!! Awww poor guy, Is he okay and was he able to go back to sleep? I've seen those mesh rails that attach to beds at Buy Buy Baby, maybe he needs that for now??

@Kimberlybee: He's fine, Ikea sells one for $12.95 that would fit the current toddler bed configuration. He's a crazy little sleeper and moves all over the place, so I worry that he will continue to hit his head on the side of his wooden bed. I already cover as much of it with rolled up blankets and pillows. He didn't go back to sleep, he ended up staying up until 5:30. Poor dh.

Based on how she sleeps in there now at 22 months, we'll probably have to kick her out when it's time for #2 to use it (so, maybe 2.5?). At this point she sleeps REALLY well, and doesn't try to climb out. Well, she tries to climb out when we're in the room, and she actually chickens out before she really gets her leg over the rail

33 months, which was 2 months before the baby was born. He never tried to climb out, and once he was STTN, he slept so well in his crib.

DS is 19.5 mos and I have no plans to move him until he starts climbing out. We plan I buy a second crib for the new baby since his is a convertible anyway.

@LemonLong: This gives me hope! My LO will be 17 months when #2 comes along, and I'm really hoping to switch him to a bed with a rail at that point rather than buy another crib. He's always been a great sleeper, so fingers crossed it won't be an issue.

We converted the crib to a toddler bed when DD was 24m and then moved her into a twin bed around 27m. She hadn't tried to climb out but we didn't want to buy a second crib for DS and didn't want there to be any feelings of him stealing her bed.
DS is 18m and I don't know when we'll transition him, although he is likely to try and climb out so that will be our motivator.

We converted to a toddler bed at 18mo, as soon as I saw DD1 climb out. We thought, why delay the inevitable?
We moved her to a twin bed at 2.5, several months before DD2 arrived, so she wouldn't associate giving up the crib with the baby.

T is 22.5 months and seems to still like his crib! Hope we make it until we move at 26,5 months.
