We moved DD1 when she was about 20m because her sleep was horrible and I had nothing to lose. Bedtime was taking 1-2 hours! It miraculously solved our problems!
DD2 is 21m and bedtime is taking up to a hour. She won't sleep till 9pm and is up for the day at 5am. I'm exhausted, want my evenings back and she has got to get more overnight sleep than 8 hours?!! Thinking about converting her crib this weekend! Wish me luck!

Good luck! Cribs are great! My 4 and half month old loves his crib, though we don't use it all night yet... He sleeps in the bassinet until 4 am and then we move him in his room in his crib until 7 or 8. He sleeps great but my husband is nervous to get him out of our room until he's 6 months. We will full-time transition him when he's six months.

Our DS is turning 3 in Aug and we still have him in his crib. We don't plan to move him until he starts to climb out. He sleeps so well that we are in no rush to change things up.

15 months with my second due to her interest in a big bed and my disinterest in buying another crib for my third.

Just converted this weekend for 18 mo. Old DS. He started climbing out. Way earlier than I wanted to and now he ends up in our bed every night.

B is 2.5 and we've still got him in the crib. I'm afraid to move him because he sleeps well in the crib! He climbed out a few times so we put the mattress right on the floor rather than switch him. We have a toddler bed for him all assembled in the basement, but I don't want to deal with him being able to wander around.

Good luck! If there is one thing I learned is that sometimes, these decisions are not up to us as the parents, you know?

We moved DS at 3 years. He got a new bed as his birthday gift. He just looked huge in his crib with his 3ft 5in. Our crib has removable slats so he was able to get in and out of his crib by himself starting at around 2.

My daughter's crib was side carred to our bed (so she wasn't fully enclosed actually) until 15 months. Then we started to night wean, so I detached it. It is set up as a toddler bed two feet away from ours. She still has never gotten out of it by herself at night, 4 weeks in.

DD was over 2.5. I didn't want to switch until she started climbing out. She never did, but then seemed ready and wanted a "big girl" bed so we just converted her crib into the toddler bed.

Hmm, I think it was just before she turned 2! A furniture store was having a good sale on twin beds and we needed to prep the baby's room anyways. Never had an issue with the transition!

We did it at 20m. We didn't have any problems at all, and for a really long time he stayed in it like it was a crib. Then my crazy husband starting telling him to get us if he needed to potty in the middle of the night. A few (non potty related) 5am wakeups later, we put a door knob lock on, lol. And now he's back to sleeping beautifully.

We moved LO around 21mo (or started the process); he's been full-time in toddler bed for a month now (he's 23 months); and he STTN the past 7 out of 9 nights - I can't remember the last time that happened lol

I just posted a thread today about how lo's sleep has become crappier lately--she's 26 months and still in the crib but we have the toddler rail ready to install...I'm scared though to make the switch!!

DD - we moved her at 16 mo so that we could use the crib for DS, no issues!
DS - 22 mo and not even on the radar! i'm hoping he does not figure out how to climb out of his crib for a long time cause once he does, we'll definitely be dealing with him leaving his room, playing, not sleeping etc. enjoying his containment as long as i can

We tried right at 2, as she was screaming at bedtime every night and ended up sleeping in the big bed in her room with one of us anyway. at first it was better, but then it was like she just couldn't help herself getting out of bed so we ended up putting her back in the crib. Around 2.5 she realized she could climb in and out of the crib and it was all over, but the transition was pretty easy. LO2 is almost 6 months and still in a pack and play because the crib is in big sisters room and we aren't ready for them to share.
